dbc03
"Relatively equal time"? I don't quite understand what is ment by that. If I imply, your saying that the top corps still get more rehearsal time than the lower corps, still giving them the advantage. A corps is probably only really competing with corps within 1 or 2 placements of their current placement. The difference in available rehearsal time is probably 30 minutes tops
Matthew
Troopers were the yo-yo of 2007. Losing six points between the previous show and Denver?Which is why I hope they fix it for 2008. This should not happen, and I can't imagine that the affected corps won't push for it. In the end it only screwed over one corps (Cascades) so the damage was minimal but unfortunate. When DCI uses the average score of regionals to determine your time at other regionals, and quarterfinals--it definitely affects the corps who do full tours. All four of our regional scores are averaged, whereas Pacific Crest's 1-2 regional scores were averaged. You can do the math to figure it out. Pacific Crest (not to knock them) should have had 2-3, scores of zero averaged in with their regional scores (I think they only did 1 regional) to get their performance time or they should have had to go on at the beginning. The same should have held for the Academy--they only attended the San Antonio regional, and the Arizona regional (if that is considered a regional), they should have had 2-3 scores of zero averaged in with their official regional scores, or had to go on at the beginning. Instead, DCI let them use their local show scores (prior to the regionals they did not attend) to seed them into regionals/quarterfinals. Inconsistent, and they were not able to back this up. Us corps who were affected (and there were quite a few others) did e-mail, and ask questions.
Liam
<snip>... Us corps who were affected (and there were quite a few others) did e-mail, and ask questions. So, I gather from this that you DO believe that performance order affects the judges ??? Or are you just saying that you were "affected" by your start time and not necessarily the resulting judging?
