Add Allstars to your corps

Recommended Posts

You know, I actually wondered about that as I typed my list! All those talented men, brilliant arrangers and instructors, and who do you choose to write? I like your idea of a 'committee' of writers, and I'd add Dennis D. to that group. What a varied and interesting routine they'd create!

From my own experience, I had great clean-up guys in Bob Peterson and Jack Pratt. Of course, the quiet, unassuming man in the corner advising everyone on technique would be the great Bobby Thompson.

Oh, and if you wanted to use rudimental basses, Nick Attanasio would be the first one I'd nominate! WDCHOF member, and still marching with a fife and drum corps in his late 80's!

if we keep thinking about this we can get a long list. gotta have rudi basses.

Pepe was a top shelf soprano, and competed in inds. as such.

Pretty sure I heard a story about him finishing 2nd to the legendary Riggy Laus on at least one occasion, but then he wasn't the only one, eh?!

Also was in a SKY sop quartet in early 60s.

My memory ain't what it was, but quite sure I saw Pepe playing "Out of Nowhere", alone, on sop., during filming of a DCI Broadcast.

Cute aside... In one of Hy's brass scores, there's a written note below midvoice line, where an extra part was written a 3rd above top voice.

There's an arrow pointing to the D maj triad inversion. It simply states: "Peppy" (Hy's spelling)! :worthy::doh::doh:

Bill Moore B)

(edited 'cause "pointing" requires 2 "i"s.)

ya know i completly forgot he was a great sop.......my bad

Don,

I would definitely add Rick Rogers and Bill Decker to the list. Very influential in the '80-'90 time frame for CRU.
