gsksun4
A French horn of course. I actually loaned him Pepe's mouthpiece for the episode.I thought everyone knew that. The horn Ralph tried to reach that high note on was a cornet. Each time he went for that note, his eyes would bug out. Don't have much history on Jackie Gleason, but he did indeed play that horn in that episode. I doubt back then they could dub the notes. steelcityrabbit
There's a Guess Whoer who played in the majors for a SHORT time. Keep looking, it's in front of your nose, oh wait, in front of your belt buckle. OK, now I know. Robbie Ellis real name is Doc Ellis and played for the Pirates back in the 60's & 70's. NYSkyliner
If you *know* who it is.... please wait a while (not everyone is on here all day or even daily for that matter) If there have been no Guesses..........Then give a *challenging* hint. When giving hints on these try to be creative and just dangle the tiniest tidbit. Make people really think / work on it. Then wait it out a while before tossing another tiny vague tidbit... C'mon we've got to make these last a little longer. PLEASE?? For a little more insight on the workings of this thread check out pg. 790 post #7894. Also, any comments made MUST be made in good taste... this is a fun loving thread... not a revenge match. Please spew your venom elsewhere. Thanx in advance! All that said and out of the way... Ooooh, this should be a good one! Guess Who # 291 ? Ola and greetings from VERY sunny Punta Cana where the present temp is 88 degrees. A little humid but I plan on spending the rest of the day snorkeling so that shouldn't bother me none. It's been 3 days without a serious guess and 3 pages since the latest response by JoeDuke which was a "short" response about a "short" joke. It certainly does not apply to the gentleman in the latest pix. He does resemble Ed Norton quite a bit with that hat though. I'll check in tonight or later tomorrow after I return from golf. Got a 10:00 AM tee time.

NYSkyliner
Is his first name Ralph? Who's name Ralph? No, who's on first. Oops, sorry. Wrong thread. Snorkeling was great by the way. Hoping no rain and a little less humidity for golf tomorrow.
donbucs
He drove a bus, but he could certainly "CORE-A-APPLE".Quiz: What horn did Ralph play (or try to play) in one of the episodes. He tried to reach that HIGH NOTE. I have all 39 episodes on VHS. I was a paid-up member of RALPH (Royal Association for the Longevity and Preservation of the Honeymooners.) It was disbanded when the Great One passed on.
