TomPeashey
I would suggest that the reason your brain makes those kinds of connections, Tom, is that you are a true Renaissance man. To someone like this, there is no such thing as "off topic". I'll take that as a compliment... :smile:/>
ajlisko
Please Read Before You Post If you *know* who it is.... please wait a while (not everyone is on here all day or even daily for that matter) If there have been no Guesses..........Then give a *challenging* hint. When giving hints on these try to be creative and just dangle the tiniest tidbit. Make people really think / work on it. Then wait it out a while before tossing another tiny vague tidbit... C'mon we've got to make these last a little longer. PLEASE?? Also, any comments made MUST be made in good taste... this is a fun loving thread... not a revenge match. Please spew your venom elsewhere. Please submit any questions and / or pics in their full size (preferably JPG format), with full description - names, Corps, Stadium, Year... etc. to: The *Guess Who* Mailbox Thanx in advance! All that said and out of the way.. '66 Bridgeport PAL, Guess Who (Left to Right, 1 at a time) # 474? 1. 1st Bass on far left = Gerard Henton 2. next bass wearing beret = Warren Farrar 3. next bass in = ?? ?? Clue for #3: his brother has been the show chairman for the Barnum Festival Champions on Parade for many years ... including last year ... he also has the same last name as the BIG tenor drummer in line, though they're not related ... :-)
gsksun4
completely OT and just because it's something I know of... Indians in CT/RI/MA of course pre-date the Plains Indians... At least in the case of the Pequot's, an interesting thing happened... due to normal human prejudice of the time, the early Americans - though tolerent of the Indians - did NOT assimilate with them... As the numbers of African Americans in the Northeast began to multiply with escaped and freed slaves prior to the civil war and many more just after the war, these blacks were also subject to prejudice but DID assimilate with the early colonial Indian tribes - perhaps due to feeling a common prejudice? I once saw the chief ot the Pequot Tribe and CEO of Foxwood Casino and he looked very much like Syracuse's own NFL All American, Jim Brown.. as a matter of fact, many of the Pequot Tribe - 150 or more years later - have the outward appearance of African Americans... I suppose this was probably true of the other area tribes also... Not for nothing... just useless info I happen to possess in my dwindling pea brain... I also find this interesting Tom. Most of us don't realize that at one time the very ground we stand or stood on was inhabited by American Indians. Take Long Island for instance, where many of the towns are named after historic tribes. There were 13 different tribes living on Long Island by 1643. From Canarsie to Montauk. Massapequa is one of those towns where an Elks Club sponsored a pretty decent drum corps in the 60's. I might have to put my gloves on for this one. This brother of #3, did he ever hold a mgmt. position in DCA? Nope ... you're heading down the wrong path ... his brother was a heavyweight for Barnum Festival ... ran the DCA show for them for years (on and off) ... very common last name ... :-)

ajlisko
(psst... tell the truth, Andy, you are having a ball with this feature aren't you?) I really wish Ace Holleran was actively involved with GW ... he'd have some gems for clues ... it is making me think back a bit though ... 1966 ... one of my fav years ... prelude to 1967s' Summer of Love ... added tid-bit: this pic was taken at the Pow Wow show in Kingston NY ... part of a day/night double header hosted by the Kingston Indians ... :-) Edited December 3, 2012 by ajlisko
