show hype tunes

Recommended Posts

I know I'm not the only one that had certain tunes I listened to on my i-pod/cd player on the way to shows/pulling into the lot. What were yours? I'm trying to compile a master list of drum corps show hype songs.

Mine were/are:

DMB- Drive in, drive out

Led Zepplin- Kashmir

AC/DC- It's a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll

NIN- The Hand that Feeds

POD- Here comes the boom

There are more, but to many to list. What were yours?

pat metheny - "roots of coincidence"

the white stripes - "conquest"

just to name a few.

The drum bus had their own CD of hype music that we listened to before every show, but my personal mix?

Rusted Root - Cruel Sun

311 - Creatures; Sever

The Streets - Blinded by Lights

TV on the Radio - Wolf Like Me (or Playhouses)

various Rage Against the Machine songs

Radiohead - Paranoid Android

Flaming Lips - Free Radicals

Mos Def and Talib Kweli - Definition

I had an anti-hype song too, when I wanted to relax before a show and not get overhyped - Perpetual Groove - Walking In Place. But that's kind of my multi-purpose, listen to when I'm in whatever mood song, so I'm not sure it counts.

Stevie Wonder - "Higher Ground" (Later redone by the Chili Peppers) "gonna keep on tryin'- 'til I reach my highest ground!"

Journey - "Don't Stop Believin'"

Zepplin - "Good Times, Bad Times"

KISS - "Hotter than Hell"

Old school... :innocent:

Wow I'm boring compared to all of you - I listened to Barber's Adagio most of the time... the CD (gasp) that has several different versions of it. Helped me focus...

whatever worked ... right? That would be the right tune to hype to.

We didn't have iPods back then... heck we didn't even have "Walkmans" ... we had cassette deck in a stereo system hooked up to home speakers in our bus.
