  1. Some benefits I see: - the articulation of the beat occurs on the same part of the foot with every step - the legs have a consistent look traveling both forward backward, and one that should appear more lifted/extended - it would be difficult to perform with your weight anywhere else but centered - fewer female hip injuries because of how the leg is accepting the weight - less feet in the sound - it gave them a new look that separated them from other corps - transitions more fluidly to dance choreography It fits, too, with the current trends in running and physical therapy research; the Vibram FiveFingers and other barefoot sport shoes, for instance, that encourage a platform running style. That said, I'm sure it has its disadvantages as well, but I applaud their decision to try something new.
  2. didn't see the other thread. my bad! close please
  3. http://www.bluecoats.com/news_detail.asp?news_id=272 discuss...
  4. hahaha, this is awesome. funny guy.
  5. haven't heard everyone's yet, but went with bluecoats. the shout at the end =
  6. what part is from "a mighty wind?" curious.
  7. i'm not arguing whether or not the show is actually about rocky. the audience will make the connection on their own, whether that's what it's about or not. and please, they chose rocky music because it's "good ole fightin'" music? there isn't FAR superior fighting music somewhere out there? they chose that music because it makes you think about rocky, and thus, boxing.
  8. the show has super recognizable rocky music in it and is about boxing. the audience is going to draw that parallel regardless of what the show is about, which could easily be rocky. no one is arguing that the designers themselves based the show off of rocky, but audiences will make that connection with or without their help.
  9. crown at times, blue stars, and bluecoats (ballad shout chorus - my god).
  10. i guess i really should have heard it? i'll get my hands on the fan network and check it out. regardless, it seems the poor choice of an individual as opposed to the corps as a whole. unless it was a number of people? i think i'll just sit this one out until i actually hear it. point taken.
  11. would this be a problem if it had sounded wicked sweet? i've taken part in my fair share of mello hi-jinks during encore and my corps was/is relatively disciplined. i dunno, no big, though i didn't actually hear it.
  12. new video of the drum line on that one website that sounds pretty #### good. someone with a more drum-oriented ear want to lend their opinion?
  13. i was honestly more impressed by the cavies clip that's up. both lines are sounding great for this time of year though.
  14. man, most definitely. good for them!
  15. cadets by a ridiculously slim margin. bluecoats (i could just as easily see coats taking it tonight and almost expect it. i suspect cadets have a harder visual program that will come together in the end.) boston crusaders glassmen crossmen troopers pioneer
  16. 8 snare vets, 4 bass vets, and 3 tenor vets was the last i heard. that was april-ish numbers.
  17. love that clip, seriously. sounds sick.
