Another part that hasn't been discussed, the water itself. Right now the southeast is in a drought. Water restrictions are up. How would corps handle this in these areas? Now this can only can be discussed if the same area is still in strict water restriction. Afterall, corps don't carry a lot of water, I can't see the corps leaving water in said instruments. Lot of issues that Hoppy always seems to miss when he makes ANY proposals.

If the water is being used for a glass harmonica or water gong, it can be recycled several times until it evaporates. Or, it can be used after the show to cook hot dogs, wash down the food truck kitchen, poured into horns to give them a bath and wash out the crud, etc. The amount of water used for a glass harmonica wouldn't equal the amount of water one kid would use in taking a shower. And if the water is used for bird whistles (something no one has brought up yet), the amount of water would be equal to a shot glass...something the southeast can probably absorb without shutting down.

Dang it, we're talking about art here!

Having water around electronic pit equipment just sounds like a bad idea. Didn't everyone learn as kids that water & electric don't mix?

It's all about stretching the envelope.

As a kid, I was taught that one drinks milk for ulcers, no one would ever buy a Japanese car, and matter was non-transmutable.

... because, surely if it would alter the conditions enough to make it unsafe for any corps following them, it would render the field unsafe for their own corps that is currently on the field...that is unless they used water at the conclusion of a performance as the performers were leaving the field.

Flashdance, perhaps ?

Are you saying that the Cabs bass drum thing with water originally came from STOMP?[/

The Blue Man Group actually takes it a step further. They light the water with colored lights, making the splashes all different colors. Awesome affect. Of course, that wouldn't really work in drum corps.

Well that settles it … legalize the glass harmonica but ban showers! Artists aren’t big on personal hygiene anyway.
