drumcat
All that says to me is that George has a vision of what he thinks is the best way for DCI The Cadets to exist and thrive in th 21st century. He has been pretty clear on that topic...and consistent as well. Plus, he works within DCI's structure and abides by the BOd decision. I fail to see the issue on that topic. There... fixed. DrumCorpsFan27
What I am saying is that the bullets on the sheet are not a checklist where the judge just runs down the list. They are some of the things a judge would consider in making comments and creating a score. In the circuits where I have judged there are/were also some of the criteria noted on the sheet, but there are more than fit there, plus a lot more considerations not printed on the sheet. So, the other things to be considered are weighted more for corps without amps, since the judge cannot consider the use of amps?
MikeD
So, the other things to be considered are weighted more for corps without amps, since the judge cannot consider the use of amps? No, the list, not an exhaustive one, is not "weighted" at all. It's some of the items to consider by the judge, that's all.

OK, let me try saying it this way... There are X amount of 'items' for a judge to consider. Amp use is one of them. The judge can only award a certain amount of points, there is a maximum or cap if you will If a corps doesn't have amps, the judge cannot consider the use of amps. Which means there is one less thing to consider as compared to an amped corps. So, that leaves two options... 1) Consider the other items more, 2) Don't consider the other items more. So, if every thing else is equal, the judge then has one more thing to 'consider' for the amped corps, hence, more credit.

I've never heard of judging in any DC or MB circuit I know of to be that way. In the case of Music Ensemble you evaluate the sound presented, and that's all. The items evaluated are considered and commented on, but the lack of amps is not going to result in less credit, nor is their presence going to add credit. As I said, it's not a checklist kind of thing where you get points for each item on the list, at least not in any system I have ever seen or used. Let's say that there are two corps that do everything equally the same, one is amped and the other is not. Do they both get the same score? shostahoosier
I LOVE the Blue Stars' proposals. AND..........they took a lot of time to explain their reasoning...they didnt just scribble up some jumbled sentences (as if someone were taking a pop quiz they hadnt studied for) I hope they arent completely dismissed at the director's meeting. The Blue Stars are standing up for what I'm sure many corps would like to do...but are afraid to. I'm all for progress...but I'm for progress. The Blue Stars are not standing up for anything. I wrote those proposals. Rule proposals must be submitted by a corps director or a director at large to be considered. I asked Brad if the corps would submit the proposals. The Board discussed my proposal, and they agreed. Brad explained the situation here: http://www.bluestars.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=7229
