dbc03
Cadets started out as The Holy Name Fife, Drum, and Bugle Core. Did they, or do they, had/have like a religious association or something? They were originally sponsored by the Church of the Most Holy Name in Garfield, NJ until 1958 Edited April 2, 2008 by dbc03

whitedawn
As didn't "The Cadets of Wherever-we-didn't-burn-our-bridges yet" ... cute. back on topic -- yes, the corps was formed at the church in garfield in 1934. the short version is that after the 1957 season, the parish decided they needed the money allocated to the corps budget to build a new church, so it folded the corps. the corps existed in 1958 because the cavaliers and caballeros loaned them equipment all season. the corps reorganized as the garfield cadets. then in the late 80s, after making an agreement with bergen county (and more or less shown the door by the town of garfield), the name changed to "bergen county." some years later, the county stopped allowing the corps to rehearse at the teterboro vo-tech school, and at that point -- no longer supported by the county -- the corps became "the cadets". euponitone
As didn't "The Cadets of Wherever-we-didn't-burn-our-bridges yet" ... Haha....wow. You'd think someone marching during that area would actually have a clue. Oh well, I guess actually living through certain events still cant cure ignorance... Next we'll here that the church kicked them out because god hates amps....
