... If they're sending the drum corps to war, WE'VE ALREADY LOST!!!

Oh, I don't know about that.

Back in May 2003 we were in Mosul Iraq and we ran into the 4th ID band.

They were doing their job when they weren't playing...Guarding the Base!

We used to joke about how they stood guard: "Halt! Or I'll play a discordant note!"

Kansan Sounds familiar, we pulled gun truck escort for most of the 3rd COSCOM.

From Mosul n the north to Arifjan Kuwait in the south and west to Falluja.

(We must have really ****** someone off!)

Joined the Kansas Army National Guard March of 1989

45L Artillery Repair

45K Tank Turret Repair

Got out March of 1995

911 happened

I enlisted again October 8th 2001 (to get into the "Big Fight")

Lingered in a HQ unit until 2003

Earned 88M Truck Driver MOS over a course of 6 Drills and 2 Weeks

Activated September 2004 for Operation Iraqi Freedom III

Spent a year in Iraq and Kuwait Driving a PLS truck, manning a .50 cal machine gun and standing Guard Duty

Came Home Nov. 2005 earned E-6

Joined the 35th Infantry Division Band June of 2008

I Still have the 88M MOS so I can't say I'll never be activated again.

Wouldn't really mind another tour except I'd be missing Family and Drum Corps events

The way I heard it 88M was being fazed out, they figured a driver was a driver I guess. They were still telling us they were getting rid of the mos in 05. I heard something about mechanics and drivers being merged. Then again it is the Army, they've been fazing out the m-60 since Vietnam.

We all know that Drum and Bugle Corps originated on the Battlefield and was comprised primarily of prior service Military personnel, as the years go by it becomes more and more apparent that the activity is losing it's touch with it's militaristic roots... I wonder how many in the activity anymore have had in the past, or now shared what our drum corps ancestors have and served our country's defense? So the question is..... Are you or have you been a Server or Civilian?

God bless those that serve past present and future...

And God bless those who support us...

What a great idea, Jimmy!

USAF, Vietnam Era.

God Bless our Troops, and the civvies working hand in hand with them ALL!

God Bless You, young man, and a special thought for the safety of my nephew, Cap't. Matt Rogers, chopper driver, USMC, Persian Gulf.

Wow, lots of military service represented in drum corps. I'm not surprised, considering our AL (American legion) and VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) heritage.

I have the distinct privlege of being "Military" without being put in Harms way... My service to the country was STRICTLY musical in nature, as I was a member of the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps. If they're sending the drum corps to war, WE'VE ALREADY LOST!!! I am PROUD to have served in our nations military, even though it wasn't in DEFENSE, but in CELEBRATION of our great nation.

THANK YOU to all those who put themselves in harms way, so MY unit can serenade them with American music...

Though I'm not so sure I agree with Gene that "If they're sending the drum corps to war, WE'VE ALREADY LOST." I can beat the holy crap out of somebody with a mellophone.

We WANT April on that wall with a Mellophone, We NEED April on that wall with a Mellophone ...

I CAN handle the truth...

You wanna know who ordered the Code Red? April ordered the Code Red! And she'd do it again in a minute!

I could see them fazing out semi truck drivers but sometimes you need a truck unit that can fight their way into a situation and then fight their way back out on their own. You ever see the Haliburton video with the unarmed civilian drivers getting killed after their Military escort took off on them during an attack?

It's great to see the responses here! Quite a few of my friends from Drum Corps served. I see them at DCA finals nearly every year.

God Bless all of those who have served and are serving today! Thanks to everyone who appreciate what the military does in protecting our freedoms!
