thirdcoast
Let's be totally honest. The only one on that list that has a cat in hells chance of coming back is Anaheim Kingsmen (which the apparently plan to do for 2010 anyways). Everyone else there on that list, whilst I would love to see it, just simply won't happen. Perhaps we SHOULD look at those who have a CHANCE (however remote) of coming back. If that's the case perhaps the list should read more likeFreelancers Magic Southwind Cap Regiment Freelancers still have a bingo game going (for how long is anybody's guess thanks to the Governator). They have a top notch competing drumline and there have been serious moves for the first time in many years to resurrect the corps by way of an alumni hornline and now, drumline. My guess is that if they can get the pennies right, this is the best chance for an imminent return. Cap Regiment is coming back this year, but I think most folks are taking a "wait and see" approach based on their recent history. Magic had issues but is that corps totally dead? Lest we forget it wasnt THAT long ago they were a DCI finalist. And as for Southwind, it was just pennies. These guys were on the cusp of something special. Outside of these 4 the only other corps I MIGHT put on the list would be Kiwanis. Anything else, I am afraid, is a pipe dream. Lest we forget what the Bridgemen are doing. That could mabye turn out to be something special.
thirdcoast
I voted for 27th Lancers as well. Ya, me to. Big Corps, Miss that style of show, I still dont understand why Roman(Pioneer) has not done a complete show. Pick one like 82 with Danny Boy. Take the advice this yr and get out of last place. SpookyKid
Lone Star - The little corps that could. It was an amazing group and I only wish there was a way to bring them back. Des Plaines Vanguard - There seems to be a lot of alumni in the area that wish something would come back. It would be cool to have another drum corps in my backyard (seeing as Rosemont is 2 minutes from my house) Phantom Legion and Pre-Cadets - It was sad to see these groups go. They really did seem to provide a good music opportunity for the younger kids of the Rockford area.
boxingfred
Hmmm, if I had to pick from all corners and in between...1. The Freelancers (first priority above all the rest) 2. The Marauders (make them a jazz corps again), The Vancouver Spartans, and the Salem Argonauts 3. The Sky Ryders, Guardsmen, Geneseo Knights, Black Knights, and Illiana Lancers 4. Suncoast Sound and The Florida Wave 5. 27th Lancers and The Bridgemen 6. Les Eclipse, Les Etoiles, Connexion Quebec, L'Insolite, and Academie Musicale Oops, can't forget about the Oakland Crusaders. Going overseas... 1. The Dagenham Crusaders 2. The Balsidon Blue Eagles Great list! Add: Seneca Optimist NorthStar ( mass. and Canada)
Scottishfan
In Britain if you look at the activity today and compare it to the 80s when there would be 30-40 corps in prelims, it does sadden me. Well done to those who are still keeping drum corps alive over here.
BayonneBum
Forget Star - How about NORTH STAR!! You can say that again. Just loved 1978. I just rediscovered "This Masquarade," and it was great. Popular music, songs heard on the radio, done well. Loved North Star.
shawn craig
In no paticular order: Freelancers Black Knights Kingsmen Argonne Rebels Suncoast Sound Here's hoping Southwind really does make it back in 2010.
