malletrockr12
Why is everyone placing Surf so low? Last year their score BEAT Madison Scouts at Allentown, and they were judged on World Class sheets. I remember the mix up in scores after Allentown placing Surf above the Scouts. I don't think they were judged on WC sheets though... I think the DCI scores site just forgot to separate the two classes... Unless I'm mistaken and the OC corps are judged on WC sheets at WC shows...?
roosevelt
Why is everyone placing Surf so low? Last year their score BEAT Madison Scouts at Allentown, and they were judged on World Class sheets. I don't think they really beat madison on any sheets.. it was probably a mix up (which happens all the time). Jersey Surf was a good Open Class corps last year. They were not in the same league as the finalist world class corps from last year. I personally think that making top 17 for them their first year in WC would be a huge accomplishment for them. Anything much higher than that would probably not be very realistic at this stage of the game. One thing at a time....

thirdcoast
I've got a feeling about Cadets this year, but historically they have had down years after a name change.I really want them to come out with the Berstein show, no narration, and win back all the fans. Me to!
dciknowledge
Here's a far less bold prediction...Jersey Surf will not be a finalist before The Academy will be a finalist. Especially after Academy made such an improvement from '07 to '08 right?

contrajedi8
Heres not a very bold prediction. Neither Academt OR Jersey Surf will be a finalist this year or in the forseeable future. Academy- the most overhyped corps for the last 2 seasons with the exception of the Madison Scouts. Still have yet to live up to that hype. Remember when people were picking this corps to crack top 5 in 2008??? Jersey Surf- They may get the "new-kid-on-the-block" semifinalist award this year. Next year, they'll settle into that vast drum corps Sahara that lies between the Glassmen (traditional 11-12 place), and Pioneer (traditional 20-23 place). My question to you is this. If the Academy and JS are going to make finals, who is going to drop out. And what of the corps that have been on the "lip of the cup" so to speak for finals? Madison Scouts, Colts, Crossmen, Spirit. Those corps are all vying for 12th place. Not to mention the solid 8-11 place finishers year after year. Glassmen, BAC, Blue Knights. The Blue Stars certainly don't plan on going anywhere.
