CorpsBuff
"I am a bit surprised that the Econo Lodge near the Scranton baseball stadium hasn't made this "worst" list yet. That place is a horror show."Ahh... something about the Econo Lodges on the east coast. Years ago we went to Easton, MD (for everyone but Frans benefit that's on the Eastern shore) for our nieces baptism. Stayed at the Econo Lodge right off of Rout 50 and problems soon as we walked into the lobby. No one really spoke English and sis-in-law changed rooms three times because of the left over ciggie smell in the rooms. She kept saying "Non-smoking" and the clerk kept smiling, nodding his head and saying "Smoking". In our room the phone didn't dial long distance (before cell phones) and the office couldn't figure out how to turn it on. Best part was it was Feburary and the heat on two settings: Off and Blast Furnace. Nothing like getting up ever hour to change the heat because you either have an icicle on your nose or melting. One of my ex co-workers had a summer place further down Rt 50 and soon as I said the name of the motel his response was "That ####hole still open?". I teach in the county next to Talbot (where easton is) and have many friends who live there. I'll have to ask about it
JimF-LowBari
I teach in the county next to Talbot (where easton is) and have many friends who live there. I'll have to ask about it LOL, wondering myself as I haven't been down there since my bro-in-law got in a snit about his job and left the area. Worked at Wild Goose Brewery in Cambridge and when they got bought out, "something" (never found out what) didn't suit him and he quit. All I remember is "If they're not going to make it right, I don't want my name on it." His folks felt sorry for him and I wondered where the #### is his name on anything. Since then we lost count of breweries and towns he has been at.... Before we left Easton we stopped at the local supermarket for supplies. I was the only one who didn't pay in food stamps. Fran Haring
Last I saw (last summer was my most recent trip to that neck of the woods) there was an Econo-Lodge near what used to be the H & G family restaurant on Route 50.......... I don't know if this is the same Econo-Lodge you're talking about. Barbara says years ago when she still lived in the area, the locals used to refer to the H & G as "The Hog and Goat." LOL Fran
Cabsleadbari79
Timmy that must be saying something if you are using the Beach Colony as your preferred hotel. The continental motel in Cumberland Maryland, you wore your shoes in the shower if you knew what was good for you.

LOL Fran Must be da place, on the left hand side heading South. We ate at a resturant next to the Eco-Lodge and must have been the Hog & Goat . Not only was the location right but the food was.... well.... kinda... there.... Brewery was/is? a few blocks away on the other side of Rt 50 in an abandoned warehouse. Abandoned warehouses must be a great place for microbreweries as know of a bunch that set up that way including Appalachin in Harrisburg. IIRC Wild Goose wasn't that bad tasting. Somewhere along the line my bro-in-law was b-wording about the big breweries and said "We don't brew for everyone". After trying his latest creation all I could think was "Well ya got THAT one right".
