Mike_B
Great response to the use of electronics. Being the uni person with the Cadets, I've heard my share of complaints and compliments on the subject. I feel bad for the little guys just trying to hang with the big dogs in the electronic world of DCI, whether it's good or bad. They don't have the pools of talented kids beating down their doors to audition, and in the end, don't get the cream of the crop of musicians/techs/instructors, that do indeed, make electonics, synths, and voice sounds blend in much better with the overall picture. That being said, Kudos to Teal Sound for pushing the envelope, taking risks, and performing well! It should be a great season! I heard this last night for the first time. It was an effect, but that's it. When the horns are playing, I didn't notice the electronics. Their pit "band" was good, I thought the drummer and bass player added, couldn't hear the guitars very much. That's ok. They started jamming during our horn tuning/warm-up and we had to move. Good show in Erie last night. Crown beat the Cadets. I enjoyed every corps.
ech2os
$3 in 1965 is worth just under $20 in 2009. The real increase is probably in the concessions :)
