rosski47
Crown and Phantom had the best ballads in my book. I get the feeling that your book consists entirely of Crown and Phantom.
Hrothgar15
I get the feeling that your book consists entirely of Crown and Phantom. For 2009? Pretty much. BD was really good, too. And I liked Cadets. But on a more serious note, part of the reason why those two had my favorite shows was because they had my favorite ballads. So it makes sense. It's not like a have some sort of ties to either of those corps. Next year it could be Bluecoats and SCV...who knows. Just depends on the show. do.it.up.
If the beginning of BD's "Mosaic" (opener) counted as the ballad, I'd vote for that. But my vote definitely goes to Holy Name!

BlooContraGuy
Crown's ballad didn't really seem to grab me when I saw it live, though when I watched a fan network video, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Maybe it was the acoustics in Lucas Oil, but I really don't remember enjoying it as much there. I love Sky Blue, of course. Maria Schneider created such a beautiful piece of music that really pulls at my heart every time I listen to it.
Ed Boxer
Troopers - One Hand, One Heart - brilliant brass writing, heavily exposed, and played gorgeously. My jaw dropped on the pianissimo entry of the sopranos.

Matt_S
Blue Stars got my vote. It was beautiful by itself, but also fit their show perfectly.
TheClutch
Crowns Ballad was pretty amazing. I felt like the re-entrance after the hit (started with only mellos, but added other horns later on) was a little risky. Spirits ballad had that cool steel drum and brass acapela hit.
