DCI 2012 Season Online Videos
do.it.up. replied to Huntington Mallets's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I think folks are getting way ahead of themselves. BD has performed live once and only 2 low-quality videos have surfaced on YouTube. All the folks that have seen the show live seem to be raving about it. Was at the Akron show and there are some phenomenal productions on the field the summer. Can't wait to see where SCV and BD fall into the mix. -
I am just fascinated at how well you are able to over exaggerate and distort anything that has to do with BD. Pretty much read the same thing in every review of yours. 1) You have no right to say when the crowd is reacting "rightfully." This goes for all corps. 2) From where I was, BD got standing ovations in the middle of their show.

Agreed. It's becoming a little pathetic.

After seeing Onyx live, I've grown to appreciate the show a bit more. I say just a bit because the show makes no more sense live than it does on Fan Network. It is definitely an interesting show though, just clearly not for everyone. Personally, I'm surprised that they're scoring as high as they are right now. Having seen all of these shows live, I think Santa Clara Vanguard, Fantasia, and Corona all have better weapon content and execution than Onyx. Onyx is definitely tossing higher than anybody else right now. Well, the 2 or 3 members that actually do toss. It'll be interesting to see how things pan out with all the groups head to head.

I remember that person! I agree that Fantasia's 83.5 seemed a bit low. But they had a pretty rough show, too. A lot of rewrites and new work that still need to be cleaned (it's on YouT---)! The show is a real gem, though. I'm really excited for IW this season!

Blehhh. I'm not liking Onyx's show too much. I feel like it has something to do with an alien invasion or something. All of the randomness--the quotes, the floor, the running, the equipment work, the transparent flags...it's all killing me. It took me a while to finally start appreciating "Sleeping Giant," so I'm hoping this years' show is better live. But as of now, I'd definitely put Fantasia, Blessed Sac, and Corona ahead of them. -
As someone who was there for both prelims and finals, I am not at all surprised that Fantasia beat Corona. Both had absolutely amazing shows, but Fantasia seemed a step ahead in design. I loved their show. There was one part of Fantasia's show (after the long rifle exchange sequence) that was very reminiscent of Fantasia 2004. For me, Corona's show seemed a bit hard to follow. Conceptually, Blessed Sac is absolutely brilliant., but I prefer the flow and weapon content of Fantasia's show. We'll just have to see where Onyx/SCV/NEi play into this! It's looking to be a very competitive, amazing season! Shame that Pride won't be here this season, but I'm anticipating their return.

Cavaliers vs. Blucoats 2010 Color Guard
do.it.up. replied to Triple Forte's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I actually thought the gap between the Cavaliers and Bluecoats in colorguard should have been a tad closer. I do think the Cavaliers had more difficult work that was not only better executed, but complimented their music better than the Bluecoats'. However, the Bluecoats were absolutely phenomenal and this was the best I've ever seen their guard. I don't think Carolina Crown was remotely close to the top 3 in colorguard. Personally, I think they should have been below the Cadets. The Blue Devils and Cavaliers were much stronger in weapon content, technique, and dance. -
With this judging system, 20 does not mean "perfect". If the second place guard was given a score of 19.8 or 19.9 and BD was better in the judges' eyes (drops or not), there's no way to justify that they didn't deserve a score of 20.

BD's guard was hands down the best at Finals. I don't buy the argument that they had less difficult work, either. Having some background in guard, I definitely thought BD had the hardest work this year, and last year. All of the ridiculous backhanded rifle work, partner lifts, and unison tosses made for a spectacular equipment and movement book. Their work undoubtedly compliments and accentuates their music in a way I have not seen from any other guard. Congratulations to the BD guard for 3 perfect 20's! WOW!

CONGRATULATIONS BD! 2 UNDEFEATED SEASONS!? THANK YOU, BD, FOR BRINGING A SPECTACULAR PRODUCTION THIS YEAR. To me, "Through A Glass, Darkly" is the best drum corps show ever. Period. AND, CONGRATULATIONS TO BDB ON ANOTHER CHAMPIONSHIP! Of course, great job to all the corps this season. It was a pleasure to attend finals. Best show I've ever been to, by far. Can't wait till next year! -

Who will be on top? Part 2
do.it.up. replied to Hook'emCavies's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
My vote goes to BD because they have the best show and are executing it at an unbelievably high level. However, I really do enjoy all of the above mentioned corps. Phenomenal top 5, to say the least! -

Yeah, oh for f's sake. Does anybody know of any changes to BD's program so far? Did they reveal a new ending at Buffalo, maybe? -
Finals Week - What Do Expect/Hope For
do.it.up. replied to blueorginal's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I really do love the Cavaliers this year. I don't doubt that they might be able to match the execution and cleanliness of BD. However, I don't believe their show has the potential to overtake them. -
I really enjoy The Cavalier's drill this year. But when I think about it, when do I not? It looks very difficult to execute, but I'm not sure how difficult it is to clean drill that is heavily linear. SCV's drill seems difficult and complicated to clean.

Congrats, Cadets!

Why the top four challengers shouldn't win
do.it.up. replied to WestCoaster's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Oh, man. Fail. -
Why is crowd response and booing such a prevalent topic in so many threads? A lot of it is really starting to sound desperate and pathetic!

This thread is classless, and full of hate and hypocrisy. Awful. Save yourself and request for it to be closed! -
This thread is amazing. Go, Blue Devils.
