I voted BD 04 for brass. Almost Crown 09, but there were parts in the show where the middle and high brass broke away from the style and joined BD's method. Seemed a bit uncharacteristic, though not necessarily bad. BD 04, I felt, was more consistent.

We know the drill? Dot or form?

Dot first, form second.

SCV's performance was a great example of the effectiveness of the amplified front ensemble. Many of the Cadets' wins were bare-knuckle squeaky clean battery master classes.

actually, i thought the amps detracted but they were still the best ever

I think that the 02 Cavaliers hornline was quite possibly the best ever as far as blend, ensemble balance, pitch, and just overall tone quality. Theres seriously not a hair out of place. In fact, I'm amazed its not winning

They were indeed very precise.

yea that 04 BD brass line was beastly. i loved that show.

i wish i could pick more than one for drums

04 SCV

06 Phantom

08 Phantom

those 3 lines were SICK!!

Those really stuck out to me as well. They all had a similar level of intensity and confidence that I didn't feel a match for in other lines of those years. (emphasis on the "I") And the books were written above and beyond also. All three had beautifully integrated frontline to battery. Great writing and great performances. They put icing on the cake by marching their arses off too. The whole package, all three.
