Cracked open this thread, thought maybe I'd see some drum corps posters. Saw a handful, and 15 pages of sniping, give/take.

Mods, let's close this thread. We've about sniped this topic to death.

I've posted three drum corps posters. How many have you posted. And how 'bout you Boo?

P.S. If you think this thread is snarky, you are not very attentive.

Doesn't it ring a bit hollow to hear folks rant about a red splotch on a poster as being inappropriate (or a gun for that matter)? I'm all for bringing out the best in people, but if the violence is to communicate good triumphing over evil (i.e. Spartacus), or if it's a historical depiction of real events, then why the contention?

Being one of the folks who commented on the red splotch, I must say I don't recall anyone, least of all me, ranting about the subject.

But I feel a rant coming on now.

Actually, not really. But to use your construct, I don't have a problem with depicting violence in the triumph of good over evil. It makes me feel good to think about evil being vanquished.

On the other hand, a blood splotch juxtaposed in series with a sniper rifle and a theme of "Mad World" implies to me a depiction of random violence for the sick gratification of a twisted individual, which further implies the use of violence in the triumph of evil over good. And I find that mildly unsettling (which is more or less what I said in my first post about the blood). If the intent of the Cavaliers show and show poster is to unsettle me, then I'd say they succeeded in their objective, and more so with the blood splatter than the sniper rifle, which I find a little ironic since one might assume that the intent of the blood splatter was to tone the logo down a bit after the complaints about the gun.

Granny, if I had any posters to post, I'd post them post-haste. But I have no posters to post; neither from the Internet, my wall, or a nearby post.

Pretty nice poster BUT I'm scared ...can you imagine the junk on the field with this theme.. YIKES !!!!

I'd hate to be the person to have to pick-up all the yellow bricks at the end of the show--or follow Toto around with the scoop and bag.

Out of curiosity, what do you think of the Troopers poster from last year (I put it in this thread a few pages back)?
