Pinwiz
It's that time of year again! I pulled out Excel and started crunching the numbers. Based on San Antonio and Atlanta (and Surf's other show), these are the current standings for World Class (apologies for the formatting, it's late): Place. Corps - Average Score 1. Blue Devils - 93.975 2. Bluecoats - 91.85 3. The Cavaliers - 91.75 4. Carolina Crown - 91.2 5. The Cadets - 90.35 6. Santa Clara Vanguard - 88.575 7. Phantom Regiment - 88.425 8. Blue Stars - 87.025 9. Boston Crusaders - 85.85 10. Blue Knights - 84.825 11. Madison Scouts - 83.55 12. Glassmen - 83.075 -----FINALS----- 13. Troopers - 80.725 14. The Academy - 80.6 15. Colts - 80.35 -----THEATER BROADCAST----- 16. Spirit - 79 17. Crossmen - 77.925 -----SEMIFINALS----- 18. Pacific Crest - 76.175 19. Teal Sound - 74.6 20. Mandarins - 74.4 21. Jersey Surf - 73.75 22. Cascades - 71.6 23. Pioneer - 70.625 Which leads us to the benchmarks for Friday night. This is the spread required to be guaranteed to move up one placement: The Cavaliers must beat Bluecoats by 0.25 Carolina Crown must beat The Cavaliers by 1.15 Blue Stars must beat Phantom Regiment by 2.85 Glassmen must beat Madison Scouts by 1 Troopers must beat Glassmen by 4.75 The Academy must beat Troopers by 0.3 Colts must beat The Academy by 0.55, and/or Troopers by 0.75. Spirit must beat Colts by 2.75 Cascades must beat Jersey Surf by 4.35 Pioneer must beat Cascades by 2 Saturday morning I'll update this to show the benchmarks for Saturday's show. Feel free to point out mistakes, as I said above it is late. (DISCLAIMER: This is pure supposition. I don't know how DCI is going to seed Quarterfinals, I'm basing this off of past years.) I'm just curious as to how you figure this out? Is it by how many shows performed? Just wondering because with Pio, Surf and Cascades, Surf only has 14 scores, Pio has 21, and Cascades has 19. How does that work with Surf not having as many scores to compare with. Just wondering.

oldbandguy
This is done by the average score from San Antonio and Atlanta. The score from Allentown will be added to those two scores to determine quarterfinals seeding. What he has listed are the scores from S.A. and Atlanta and how much higher certain corps need to score to pass the folks in front of them. Thanks for putting this together! ............and go Bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue!
corps-mudgeon
ummm Colt's are sitting in the 13 spot by DCI ranking.. That's a 7 day average, this is something different. I don't think the 7 day average is what's used for QF seeding.
Tyler C.
ummm Colt's are sitting in the 13 spot by DCI ranking.. That only uses the average of the last week's scores. The quarterfinals seeding formula is different. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that one is based off an average of the regionals, right? San Antonio, Atlanta, Allentown? Tez
Are you talking about Allentown, or is this what they have to do at Quarters to move up in Semis? This is simply what the corps have to do at Allentown to be able to perform later than the other corps at Quarters. Semis' order is straight up from the finish at Quarters.
