A few former drum & bugle corps exist as other types of units today.

Both the Blue Star Cadets (WI) and Empire Cadets (NY) have become marching bands in the past 5 years or so, after having been drum & bugle corps. The Grant Wood All-City (IA) Drum Corps had bugles for one season, but has gone back to being the youth percussion unit they were.

"Americanos are part of the indoor circuit, and both had long histories as jr. corps."

My sources say, they will not make it to their 75th. Their hall was sold, Alumni will not step up, or do anything. Horns and drums will most likely be sold to pay off the remaining debt. Most are concerned about the mess that maybe left, people who have been involved for quite sometime seem to have walked away as well. Will we hear anything about this, No, have we heard anything from them in the last 7 years.

I do know that there is talk of a possible new organization in the works.Independent group made up of alumni from different area corps. There is alot of interest in the area, people feel that the fox valley area would be a gold mine for an arts organization.

The Americanos has a tarnished reputation with alot of people. I forsee if things were to remain active they would have alot of trouble finding funding. Many want nothing to do with the organization. Things may have been different if promises were kept and people actually worked to make things better.

Controll over the organization will be given up, I feel its going to be too late.

New artical on the plan for the hall

Congrats Madison, your are now the third oldest corps in the nation. :guinesssmilie:

When you start this thread on the All-Age side there are at least two PA corps that started in the 1920s that are now Alumni-types.....

Hanover Lancers and Emmaus Sentinels..... good luck finding them on a map. :guinesssmilie:

Edit: OK, see the OP asked for DCA corps too.... and Cambria Cadets are still around :music: Good ol' Ebensburg.....

Off the top of my head to add....

Westshoremen Alumni (one standstill a year)

Mighty St Joes (pretty well known)

Scout House (ditto)

Erie Thunderbirds

RI Matadors have had an Ensemble at DCA I&E including this year

Anyone know of the status of Guelph Royalaires? thought they did parades a few years back

We heard from the Americanos in 2010. They were in the SDCA, as well as being a parade corps.

Isn't the Blue Star Cadets actually the World Class Blue Stars? It was my understanding that the original Blue Stars were folded and the existing corps is an out growth of the Blue Star Cadets.

The Florida Brass was never an actual competing corps. I think it originated as a non-competitive corps for only alums of other corps.
