It's Silly Season!

Recommended Posts

In racing, Silly Season is the time of year when drivers are committing to their teams for the following season, but it usually happens before the current season is over.

Drum corps at least seems to wait until the current season is over before announcing any changes to their staff, but we've already seen some pretty big moves. Here are a few, and add your own. I'll update the OP as changes are announced.

Please, no rumors. Just verifiable moves already made.

SCV - Hires Paul Rennick as percussion caption head. No word on who might be staying or who else may be coming with Paul.

Teal Sound - Ron Ellis takes band director job at Texas-San Antonio. Chuck Naffier joins staff as brass arranger. Also hires Jeff Bridges to be Program Director.

Crossmen - Aaron Goldberg and staff resign. Chuck Naffier hired as brass arranger. (Looks like Chuck is jumping back into drum corps with both feet!) Jason Buckingham is back as the brass caption head.

Also, I don't think Goldberg, et. al. resigned. But I suppose that is the parlance of most leadership changes in today's society, so it kind of makes sense.

Ah, come on! You're taking all the fun out of a thread like this...

I figured there were enough of the other "thread like this" to go around.

per the other thread, Crossmen also have named a brass caption head.

Thanks. Jason Buckingham is back as brass caption. Added to OP.

BD....nothing major....hey, when it's working, why change??

So, why post? This is a place to list changes, not no changes.

Oh, yeah. You just have to insert BD whenever and wherever you can, even where it's not needed.

Rook out.

Not really...just pointing out that change isn't always necessary....staff consistency is a BIG help, and corps continually changing staff in search of a magic bullet miss the point (I;m looking at you, Regiment).
