Thoughts on @AcademyCorps at #DCI #Erie: Very intense performance. I can see and hear why this corps is a Finalist contender.

Academy: unis r cool, but they need a hat to hide performers eyes. Big sound, somewhat unrefined. Love the show.

They have shakos, but appear to have gone without them tonight due to the weather.

Glassmen is going with electronics tonight, so I guess they feel the weather is going to behave.

Evil guard member is coming out from the hornline block, shrouded in black.

Horn line is MUCH better from when I saw them a month ago. Horns still sound top heavy to me, but, to be honest, I think that's due to Dynasty horns. I've not been happy with the quality of their equipment for the past few years.

Drums, however, apparently have NO quality issues.

Yeah, horns!

Nice effect. Each section plays a line, then turns to face the next section, which picks up the line. This goes around the field until they get to the tubas.

Tubas are right up front laying down a bass line. I can hear them, but I can't feel them. Somebody buy this corps a line of King horns.
