Jeff Ream
No way Indeed. If what is being reported on here is true. That Cadets2 is going to be going on FIRST at ALL shows...the judges hold back will haunt them all season long. Anyone that does not believe that has not followed and tracked scores very closely in the past 10 years. The hold back certainly is going to play a part in Cadets2 their inaugural season if its true. Its suppose to shake itself out on finals weekend but its always a uphill battle. actually, if anything, that will hold down numbers for all that follow if the judges are afraid to give the correct numbers from the get go. I remember Kingston in 04....Empire went on 2nd out of 11 if I recall.....if anything, that just held down numbers for all that followed. Lets say corps X Y ANd Z have scores from last week of 82, 80 and 79. Lets say Cadets2 Rolls in with a 72. Even if the judges give Cadets2 a 4 point bump to 76 its not going to hold down or pull back X Y Z scores. X Y Z scores are historically going to move up two points in one week +/-. [sigh] Remember the good ol' days when each performance was scored on it's own merits and a corps could take it or leave it at each outing based on how bad they wanted it. Those were the days.. Kamarag
I know they have brought in staff from other DCA corps, but the DESIGNERS are still DCI. It's possible they come out and lay an egg this year. Right because Jay Bocook and Gino Cipriani have never done anything in DCA. Oh, except win a bunch of titles in a row.

irishbugle
Right because Jay Bocook and Gino Cipriani have never done anything in DCA. Did I say that? Because... when I go back and look through all my posts, I never said that. What I was implying, which is what others have argued since the beginning, is that it's not easy to bring the ideals from a daily program to a weekend only program. The possibility exists they may not come out as the full force everyone thinks they will. Is it likely.. no. But it doesn't mean it couldn't happen. Oh believe me, the ratings don't bother me at all. I was just wondering why someone would think that format of judging would be bad. I'm sure someone can raise a valid point or two. Just wondering is all.
