East Coast Scores Too High?

Recommended Posts

The fact is that the fewer corps within a "tier" that are present at a show, the harder it is to score them "in-line" because there isn't anything to compare them to. This is the reason comparing scores from different shows on the same night is worthless as a metric for anything. You can gauge which TIER each corps is falling into...but that's about it.

After the corps have had a few head to head meetings, San Antonio is going to have a big pro Crossmen factor. It is their hometown, you would expect a little better showing there.

That really hasn't been the case in years past. Their scores have been right where they should have been, and the shows afterwards reflected that.

Just looking at the rankings and seeing the Colts ahead of Blue Knights and Crossmen near Spirit, it just seems like these scores are a little out of line. I'm sure this will all be taken care of next weekend when they are all together. I'm thinking there will be some disappointed folks after next week.

I don't think so, but we won't even to have to wait until next weekend: Tuesday night the Colts are at the same show with Blue Devils, Boston Crusaders, and Santa Clara Vanguard... all of whom were in direct competition with the Blue Knights on the West Coast.

BK was 3 points behind Boston, 6 behind SCV, and 9 behind BD. If the Colts are closer than that, the east coast scores probably aren't out of line.

Tonights show saw a consistent drop in scores so I guess we're seeing the excitement build up to next saturday night..

I see no earthly reason why we can't compare different Corps scores from around the country when there are different judges judging different Corps with different sized judging panels under a different overall quality mix of Corps, and with different numbers of Corps in each show and under different weather conditions and from different vantage points in the different stadiums.

You're no fun.

Based on comments on DCP the only corp with score inflation this year is Cavies!!! We will start to see it sort out this weekend but I won't get up in arms about placements until San Antonio. With the lack of full panels, performance orders based on last years results, and lack of variety in lineups at early season shows it is wide open still. I will say 8th thru 16th will be very interesting this year.

There you go again. Please refrain from using logic on this forum. Just emote your feelings. Then you can fit in better.
