kevingamin
Guard members break out Spanish hand fans up front. Love how in character they are with this piece.
kevingamin
OC hits the shout section of Channel One. Love the volume. Drums then perform the accelerando, very tasty. Horns finish with a nice lean back and wail moment.
kevingamin
We now move into blue (tango/Channel One was red) and, appropriately, Rhapsody in Blue. Tuba soloist plays the main melody and just milks it for all it's worth. Horns are in a group up front, horns on the ground or in the hands of the guard as we move into Fantasia on the Dargason. kevingamin
Frank Miller is judging to my left. I'm tempted to listen more closely to his comments to pick up a few pointers about the show.
kevingamin
The corps now awakens. Trumpets play double tonguing back field. Tenors now on drums which are pretty much heads only, great unique sound as they play. Kingfishers Catch Fire mixed with Appalachian Spring is a fun idea. The color of this section, by the way, is yellow, as in sunrise.
kevingamin
Impressive bass drum run leading into a backing up company front. Huge sound from the horns to finish with a little Firebird tag.
kevingamin
Crowd starts applauding before the show finishes. No polite clapping here. A great performance by OC.
