OldTwo
I am not affiliated with Bushwackers, and have never before started a DCP topic. I read some of the previous debate about the Bushwackers' desperate need for donations to satisfy a creditor so their stuff doesn't get auctioned off. Come ON people. If drum corps made financial sense we would all be better off. I don't disagree that corps admins should be responsible, etc, etc, but there are risks in most ventures. Sometimes, for the things about which we have a real passion, our risk tolerance is a little higher and we go out on a limb. Or two. Bottom line: according to their FaceBook page they have raised $8,000 of the $12,000 they need. They have until Wednesday, which is three days away. Don't let a drum corps suffer this devastating, probably lethal, blow. I don't know if they were responsible or not, and I don't have enough money that I can just pour it down a rathole, but this is a drum corps in need here. Time to leave the debate called "Will drum corps survive?" and make a difference. I just donated something, and hope you will too.
SFZFAN
Hopefully the self professed "financial experts" will just keep it zipped this time around and let's help this corps out of their financial burden! I donated - Next?
N.E. Brigand
I'm not on Facebook, but four days ago, Jeff Ream posted here that the Bushwackers said on Facebook they needed to raise another $3,500, which would mean they had raised $8,500. I think my (small) check would not have reached them yet by last Thursday, and I have to think there are at least a few others who donated in the past few days, so the number should have gone up. Can someone please clarify? Edited September 17, 2012 by N.E. Brigand
Jeff Ream
I haven't had a chance to see if they updated Facebook, but I know my donation got to them

wishbonecav
Given the amount raised and the number of donors, the corps need 56 more people to give an average donation. 56 people. That's it. Let's get the word out. This is going to happen. Let whoever it is know that they will be part of a drum corps success story...which is pretty cool. Fundraising is part of EVERY CORPS' annual effort to hit the field. This is nothing new. Naysayers about corps management can zip it. Corps need funds. After this year, I expect to be emailed and called, to donate again as a friend of the corps...and I will. That's pretty much how it works. In fact, if I don't get that call or email, I'll be disappointed. Make no mistake: these are reasonable people on both sides. This kitty will solve 8 out of 10 problems. That will leave Bob some time and a clear head to spend on the other 2. Edited September 18, 2012 by wishbonecav
N.E. Brigand
Given the amount raised and the number of donors, the corps need 56 more people to give an average donation. 56 people. That's it. I count 134 individuals or organizations that have donated, and the total so far, as noted, is $10,500. That's an average of $79 each. So only 19 more people donating at that amount would get the Bushwackers the $1,500 remaining. If it were 56 more donors, they could donate $26 each to reach the goal. If it were 56 more donors, they could donate $26 each to reach the goal. and the actual donated amount is lower by about $2,200 since in a previous posting they stated they were able to sell off some unneeded equipment and that is part of the $10,500 raised if I understood correctly. so so the donated amount was only about $8,300 and if you divide that by the 134 you would see the average donation was about $62 which would mean only 25 people would need to make the current average donation to reach the $12,000 goal. Jeff Ream
if 100 people give $30, then they can do a lot!
