dbg
Some of Madison Scouts music: "Fanfare for the New", the "Fugue" (from Passacaglia and Fugue), and "Concerto to End All Concertos" to complete the Kenton portion of the show. Excited to hear "Fanfare for the New". I remember hear that "Fanfare for the New" was supposed to be Freelancers opener before the fold in 1986. Would have loved to hear a camp recording if it existed. Can any Freelancer people from back then confirm or pit the rumor to rest...have always wondered about that. Dave Scott
I checked with John Zimny and he confirmed that Fanfare for the New was going to be the opener in '86 had the Freelancers made it out that season. No known camp recordings. KakkoiiOtaku
http://www.bluestars.org/story.php?story_id=715 Home. A place. A concept. A feeling. For 50 years people have been calling the Blue Stars home. Thousands of people have crossed our threshold and been welcomed into our family. Members, staff, volunteers, parents, and fans have all placed bricks on the foundation of hard work and excellence we strive for each year. We think of Home as an extraordinary place, a place with filled with special people and memories. A place in which you can always turn. It is where our heart is. We all have our reasons for being part of the Blue Stars' family, and for returning to that family and special place we know as home year after year. In 2014 the Blue Stars will explore the idea of home with its production of "Where the Heart Is." The show will explore what it means to build a home, and how that environment shapes and forms the love of a family. "Where the Heart Is" will feature many of the elements that have become hallmarks of the Blue Stars: creative costuming, character development, and an innovative use of the field in making the production come to life. The production will draw from a wide variety of different musical selections, including: The Chairman DancesJohn Adams Homeward BoundPaul Simon HomeDrew Pearson, Greg Holden To Build A HomeThe Cinematic Orchestra Original MusicRichard Saucedo, Ian Grom, John Mapes Please join us on an exciting and emotional journey as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary in 2014.
mingusmonk
http://www.bluestars.org/story.php?story_id=715 OP and Spotify updated. All tracks on Spotify with the exception of Saucedo, Grom, Mapes original content. A few thoughts ... Simon and Garfunkel are becoming quite the modern drum corps rage. Doesn't get much more popular music than Phillip Phillips. Cool to see Cinematic Orchestra getting used. If you are feeling daring, listen to their Channel 1 Suite remix. Decidedly not a drum corps arrangement.
thewsquared
Really excited for a great Oregon Crusaders year! They'll rise through the ranks in no time if they can get that pesky school system issue sorted out. Glad to see more inception this year!!!! As for Cavaliers, I'm going to believe because I really love them but I hope they're careful with how they arrange their music. I just can't see them doing Mahler or Shostakovich. Then again, I couldn't see Crown doing it and they killed it so I have faith

They used to be such a classical powerhouse and thats when I loved them! I would be so happy to see them return to some classical roots. DrumManTx
I'm not sure if I'm really at Liberty to give this information but let's just say that a finalist corps is playing Interstellar Suite Very much enjoyed Atlanta CVs treatment of it last year (they did that right?). Considering Vanguard and Blue Knights did spaceish type themes recently and Blue Stars, Madison, Cavaliers, And Phantom have announced......Boston? I dunno, you're not gonna tell, ;) Hope you're right, would love to hear that.

If/When announced, it won't be making the Spotify playlist. Interstellar Suite is notoriously under-distributed. Predictably not available on Spotify.
