Kamarag
DM is about leadership, not directorship. Not necessarily. It really depends on the corps, and corps define the duties of the drum major(s) differently. Edited August 1, 2015 by Kamarag
BRASSO
DM is about leadership, not directorship. Willie is one of the best leaders I've ever seen in 30 years of DCI. Perhaps, but the OP is asking us the best DM this season. We assume he means on the podium. Otherwise, nobody can effectively compare and contrast the off the field " leadership " qualities of 95% of these DM's. For example, my guess you would have no idea of the off the field leadership abilities of 95% of these World Class Division Corps to make that call. All you'd be capable of evaluating is that this years Bluecoats DM, in your opinion, is the best off the field DM leader the Bluecoats have had " in 30 years of DCI " ( assuming also that you are familiar with all the other Bluecoats DM's going back this far to make that evaluation comparison). However, my assumption here is that the OP here is strictly confining his question to us now as to who we believe has the best DM qualities as visibly demonstrated to us all with their on the field podium directing and leading. if I'm wrong on this, the OP can let us know. Yorkvillain
My vote for Willie was based on the 12 minutes that I see him on the field and not based on the other 23 hours and 48 minutes of the day when I do not see him. He is the most entertaining to me. Is he the best on and off the field? Who knows. Nobody knows what every DM does 24 hours a day.
derek.smith
My favorite is Willie. I also like the troopers DM I think he puts the most emotion into conducting.

Very true DMs today for most places hold a tremendous amount of responsibility. far more than 11 minutes on the field. Many are held responsible for it's members actions also. Of course no one , like you said, knows or see's most of that but it's a hard job for sure

He and Jamie Holly were on the same page throughout practice and seem to have great chemistry. But what do I know. I only witnessed about two hours of their entire summer tour.
