bradrick
-The small ensemble at the end of 1988 Phantom Regiment's "Romeo and Juliet" show (right before they pulled out the red capes). Absolutely gorgeous. -"The Captain from Castille" - Madison's opener in 1987. Classic "balls to the wall" drum corps. The opening impact rocked the rickter scale. -"Claire de Lune" - Phantom's ballad from 1994. One of the most beautiful moments all night. -1986 Sky Ryders' closer "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" (the second Wizard of Oz year) the last chord just grew and grew. One of those moments when a hornline just poured its collective guts out - all at once. -Suncoast Sound's closer from 1985 (can't remember the title). The sops just tore it up! Lance
BK's '99 ballad. It's perfect. I don't think G-Men's '01 ballad gets enough attention either. That Blauth Oboe Concerto is one of the most pleasant things I've ever heard on the field. Not bad playing but the flugelhorn who played the solo either. :) Oh, and I forgot to add the first 35 seconds of BD '98. Great brass sound, IMO. MarkS
I'll have to add Trilogy (85 BD and 94 Nite Express) and Second Symphony, Fouth Movement from 93 Sky Ryders. It was mentioned earlier, but Madison doing Remembrance (90 and 98) was awesome.
Hrothgar15
Cadets 1985, Make Our Garden Grow...which reminds me, why all corps place as much importance on ballads? When I listen to a show, I want a nice three-minute ballad in the middle, every single time! Not these Cavaliers chord progressions of the past few years. Heck, I think BOA bands as of late take the cake for ballads. Lassiter '02, anyone? Edited August 9, 2005 by Hrothgar15

skajerk
... Suncoast Sound's closer from 1985 (can't remember the title). The sops just tore it up! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That was Midnight in Miami. And not just the sops but the entire hornline! You must respect "The Lick." B) Actually, the 85 show gets quite a bit of respect here in DCPland. Edited August 9, 2005 by skajerk
