If You Could Do It Differently.........

Recommended Posts

I was only able to march one year of junior corps before entering the Navy. Since I have been in the military, I have wondered many times what my life would be like today if I had decided to march those three remaining years. But, I had no money for college and did not want to be struggling to pay the bills.

Each time I do think about it, I always come to the same conclusion: I do not regret my choices and would not change anything.

Since I have been in senior corps these last two seasons, it means a lot more to me than junior corps did, because I honestly never thought I would have the opportunity to march in a drum corps again.

By the way, I wonder if there will be any other active duty military marching at DCA this year.

Steve: during my last jr. corps year with The Anaheim Kingsmen in 1967, we had a bunch of active duty players both in the line and, in Rocco's case, instructing. Mostly Marines, but a couple of Navy guys who were ex-Royal Airs: Jim and Larry Horn.

How those guys made all those rehearsals and gigs I'll will never know...and little did I know I would be in the Army by the end of that year myself!

My friend, I salute you!

I would have dropped my then girlfriend before spending two years with Madison. There were just too many guard lovelies in our competitors to have passed them up!

We ended up breaking up 8 months after 78 DCI anyway! Altho we remain friends and shes getting a kick out of me in drumcorps again!
