What mouthpiece do you play?

Okay. I have a big problem with instructors that dictate an entire line use a certain mouthpiece. Mr. Schilke and Mr. Bach would... well... they would be unhappy. blah blah blah... differences in mouth cavity, blah blah, tongue size, teeth, lip structure, blahbity..blah..blah...

1. What mouthpiece do you use/on what horn?

2. Why do you play it (choice or dictated?)

I figured this might actually be a productive thread.

I'm a baritone player and I use the following mouthpiece:

Schilke 51D

Why?

Because it produces the best deep tone/sound and it has a deep cup. Lots of professionals use it, its recommended by most drum corps staff, and most college professors recommend it too.

At Cascades we do not require a specific mouthpiece, because we know that some students private teachers have certain things that they want their students to use. But the norm here is either the Vincent Bach 6.5AL or the Schilke 51D, both have the deep cup so I guess either or will do.

I play on a Warburton 2D or 2MC both with a wideopen 12 bore on it, for most of my playing on my Kanstul soprano back in the day. I've added Bob Reeves i forget what model, it was my professors, i added it for lead playing in jazz band on trumpet.
