  1. I agree that the show doesn't NEED the yell, but do you think it would accentuate or detract from the legacy? The Finals recording is what will live on in perpetuity, so the court of public opinion demands an answer! ... or have someone from SCV chime in and say whether the yell is something they want or not. I seem to recall someone from the staff back in 2009 or something asking DCP to not do the yell.
  2. I'm anxiously awaiting whether the audience will put one in or not. It seems like the design staff planned for it to go after the mello sustain near the end of the show. In previous years when the yell was a "thing", I seem to recall that the audience would have been doing it for most of the summer vs. right at the end of the season.
  3. Just listened to the end of Phantom 2007, again... indeed very similar to the new SCV ending. Not that it's a bad thing, but I am geeked to see how it evolves over the next couple weeks. Overall, just such a great design. Wish I could see it live.
  4. They will definitely layer in more before finals, but that's still pretty awesome. So... "VANGUARD!" yell about 16 seconds from the end? Okay. Got it. Thank you, Michael Gaines.
  5. All I know is I won't be back to Indianapolis. The acoustics were terrible and in my opinion the shows have gotten way too involved. I only enjoyed a few corps at Finals this year.
  6. My wife and I are only able to make it down for Saturday night, but if someone has a couple Super Premium or Premium seats available, I'm happy to pay full face for them. Friends and Family tickets if someone has them Please let me know! Thanks! Zach
  7. Hi. My wife and I are coming in from out of town for her class reunion on Saturday and decided to take in the regional on Friday night, but we need tickets, preferably good seats! We fly in on Friday afternoon into Bethlehem. Please PM or email me at zachly@gmail.com Thanks, Zach
  8. Will there be "Summer of" or tour shirts available or are those pretty much goners?
  9. IMO, it's their right to pull them. Was I bummed I couldn't show my wife the last 2 minutes of the encore performance last night? Yup. Will I be one of the first ones to shell out money for the CD, DVD, On-The-Road DVD, Championship gear, etc and be happy to do it? You bet. These corps need our support. Now the wife will just have to watch the whole show with me on DVD in a few months... over and over and over.
  10. Never. It's never been done. In fact, I don't think any corps has ever won Semis and lost Finals. When they had Prims and then Finals, maybe, but not since the Quarter/Semi/Final format has been used. Congratu-freaking-lations PR. I could have been there tonight and I will regret it for the rest of my life. All I know is that there better be some recording of the score announcement.
  11. Hi, all. I have two Finals tickets for Section 4R, row 56, seats 8 and 9. All you need is a printer. I wish I could be there, but last minute conflicts are keeping me from making it to Bloomington in time The tickets go for $75 a piece with charges. Get them for $100 for the pair. I can email them directly to you. Call me at 616-581-2696. Zach
  12. Since Finals were held in Pasadena (not too far away from LA), did anyone perhaps notice any celebs in attendance? I've always wondered if there were some famous drum corps fans out there in Hollywood. Chez counts, but I think he's more of an East-Coast attendant. :)
  13. Cavies and BD meet up a couple times before then, so they may not either be undefeated coming into this show. However, PR may be if they beat out the Cadets at each of the shows they compete together at. Yes, I imagine there will be a lot of attention being placed on the Drums Along the Tri-State show...
  14. The rookies plus the combination of a new visual caption head will probably make for a little dirt this time of year. I imagine that will be cleaned up rather quickly. I'm interested to see how SCV's visuals will be in comparison this year.
  15. Lots and LOTS of Zout. The uniforms are cleaned every 2-3 shows depending on the schedule. While they look great from a distance, don't be fooled. Some of them can get pretty dirty and look hopeless on their way into the washing machine.
  16. Pretty amazing. Cadets 2000 is what got me hooked, too. It's still one of my favorites. Absolutely love that show.
  17. So long as all the women look like they do in your avatar, bawker. Who IS that? My lord.
  18. http://www.cavaliers.org/cgi-bin/news.pl?c...tory&id=708 :P Hope I didn't freak you guys out.
  19. I said this same thing sometimes back, and people thought I was loony. So many years I'd love to hear the crowd reactions.... 77, 78, 79, 80, 82, 83, 88, 89, 91, 92, 93, 96 (seen this, but it's good), 99, 2000.... I guess it'd be good only for a one-time viewing, but still.
  20. Bummer. I was hoping they'd crank them a bit and re-issue. There are probably some production ins and outs that we aren't privey to.
  21. What's wrong with Phantom? The instructional staff is totally intact and no doubt they'll be pulling in more talent this year than they ever have. Plus, Rick is now at the helm, and he's a great guy with a strong dedication to drum corps and to Phantom.
  22. I'm not so sure about this. The mics seem to be down lower on the APDs and the sound more well rounded on the Finals. I think they're different recording crews.
  23. Anyone else hearing a loud crackling noise at the beginning of the SCV show? Didn't sound like a drum, and I don't remember it from Finals night or my APD.
