Favorite Off the Line

Recommended Posts

I will list my top three favorites of all time

1. 1976 Blue Devils opener "Channel One Suite"

2. 1978 Bayonne Bridgemen opener

3. 1978 Spirit of Atlanta opener ( for shear face-peeling intensity)

I know I have missed many great ones, but these are the ones that I cherish and remember without a doubt.

Mike, you're getting old man :P .  We played "Festive Overture/Procession" in '70 and "Henry" in '71. I was so happy when they decided to play those for the TOR. You can just imagine how I felt hearing those tunes over and over. It made every mile worth marching and every muscle worth aching just to hear them once again.  I'll never forget  going under that overpass either. Geeze, what a sound. Man, I couldn't stop crying...

Yea, I guess so. I just watched 71 last night and busted a couple of tears myself. I showed my girlfriend the spot just to the right of the 50 yard line where I used to sit and watch you guys do that opener over and over again at 11 years old.

And the underpass rocked!!!!!! But what nearly broke me down, after being away from Drum Corps for over 20 years, was the final blast chord of the horn line right after theStealth Bombers flew over, do you remember that? I just got goose bumps thinking about it.

I also finally got to see 74 and 75 and we were good. I never got to see us until now, but I was pretty impressed. Anyone who beat us those years must have been #@$%&^% good!!!!!

Always good to see your voice Maggie.
