I have to give my vote to the Bridgemen. Not only were their uniforms unique and afr ahead of their time, but they also complimented their whole mystique. The Blue Devils new uniforms in 1976 were the height of class and also complimented their wall of sound.

Thank you for NOT including the rediculous Argonaut uniforms of the 70's.

Those things were wretched!

hee....

I'd have to go with Phantom for classy.

BD for most original.

Bridgemen for best design.

And the Kilties for most DARING (what DID they wear under those things?)

I would have to agree with you about Phantom. I really felt they won DCI Finals in 78 and was surprised during the announcement at retreat. The Blue Devils 76 threads were both original, as you say, and classy as well; an equal match to their classy and innovative jazz tracks of that era. A few of our instructors and staff in the Kingsmen in 77 and 78 had ties to the Kilties and we heard many stories. And finally, the classic Kingsmen Blue military cadet style uniform in all it's glory matched the intensity of the Kingsmen military and uniform conduct on and off the field.

I voted for SCV just because it was the one I marched in. Personally I lean towards the cadet style, but also love the Kilties and Troopers.

How could I have forgotten the Vanguard? Another example of the style of the presentation matching the uniform. Not only classy, but I would imagine comfortable and suitable for the demands of drum corps drill as well.

As a kilt wearing drummer for 27th, we took more than our share of ridicule during parades. And since it was only the drumline - we didn't have the entire corps behind us.

During one really long and hot parade in 1994, my fellow tom dog decided enough was enough from one drunken spectator. While standing still and being berated, he responded:

Drunk "hey what are you wearing under those dresses"

My fellow tenor "your girl friends lipstick"

No more crap out of his mouth.
