sarnia sam
I can say it's 1980. Four keys and concert timps... I htink you're right. Linda pointed out the x on the field being different and Devs had stove pipes on the bongos in 79 not 80. Regards, John
sarnia sam
Oh, duh...they're all out front on the sideline... this is the end of the show. The holes are the soprano sextet and the bari trio. We did Spanish Dreams for the exit number in 79. I'm the tenor on the near end. I'm not sure why the tenors are not at parade rest like everyone else, other than we might be playing our street beat. Regards, John Also, Gary Gomes in the drum major. Both of us are in CADRE - see you in Rochester! another addition; looking at the picture again, I'm the middle tenor closest to the snares. The other one I thought I was is Darryl Langworthy. Edited May 7, 2009 by sarnia sam

byline
I don't think BD was there in 79. I believe Phantom won by a landslide. That's strange, but according to corpsreps.com, you are correct: Saturday July 7, 1979 1 Phantom Regiment 80.600 2 Bridgemen 74.400 3 Guardsmen 74.150 4 Cavaliers 72.800 5 Offensive Lions 69.950 6 27th Lancers 67.700 7 Boston Crusaders 67.200 8 Long Island Kingsmen 61.550 9 Royal Crusaders 59.650 10 Troopers 58.150 11 Defenders 56.500 12 Cadets of Greece 56.100 Meanwhile: Sunday August 3, 1980 1 Blue Devils 87.150 2 Spirit of Atlanta 83.650 3 Cavaliers 77.150 4 Troopers 74.550 5 Avant Garde 64.050 6 Offensive Lions 63.300 7 Ventures 58.100 8 Black Watch (NJ) 54.750 9 Les Chatelaines 53.700 10 Les Troubadours 50.400 11 1st Canadian Regiment 47.850 12 St. John's 25.000 The photo of Oakland Crusaders is definitely from '79, however. byline
Just found this one so far Sue...looks like a few holes in the horn line?? Thanks so much for this! Yeah, we probably had some holes, but as you and John both noted, we also had horn players who stepped out for the soprano sextet and bari trio in our "Spanish Dreams" closer (repeated from '78). Holy Crap! Am I that defective now??? Maybe I did take photos a couple of years...it guaranteed me free entry to the show and a seat in the press box until the GE judges kicked me out. Sorry to everyone if I erred in the years but I was convinced I only took photos during one year when I was goofing around with my brother's new camera. Now if I can remember where I parked my car I could go home...

Puppet
I don't drive. And regardless of what year they are, them photos are all EXCELLENT. Especially when you ignore the window handle. Great memories can only be preserved via great photos. And it sure beats having people stand in their windows pointing and laughing while you're walking around the parking lot. Cell phone cams are great when you get to be my age. I find my car almost every time, now. Puppet
