Definitely Phantom Regiment this year! Is their any doubt that they have the "non-drum corps" folks eating out of their hands this season (and that includes the Disney panel)?!

Not only did they pick a show program that is accessible to all, but their performance levels are off the roof this season! ^OO^

In fact, I think the highest placing Disney winner was the Cavaliers in 2003.

Nope. (THE) Magic of Orlando won the Div 2 version in 2002 when they won div 2.

It is my understanding that reps from Disney make the choice for this award.  There is no voting or DCI judging involved, therefore it isn't a booby prize.

I think we should also have a "fan favorite" award also.

I agree; definitely not a booby prize. This is, I think, the closest thing we have to a fan favorite award, though the fans don't pick it. It's hard to vote on this poll though not having seen so many of the corps.

Vanguard won last year's Disney award...

Has there ever been a corps, in the years the Disney awards been given, that has won Championships and the Disney award in the same year?

Yes, Pioneer 1995. We won Division II and the first Spirit of Disney and I guess 2002 Magic did the same.

Somehow, I feel that if we did have fan voting...the spirit of disney award would always go to SCV, Madison or Phantom. LOL If fans could vote...I wonder what the results could be...hmmm:

1999 - Scouts

2000 - SCV

2001 - SCV (were people REALLY that goo goo over new era????)

2002 - Sco......oh wait, they weren't in finals. My bad.

2003 - Phantom

2004 - SCV

2005 - Phantom

I honestly think that some corps can do no wrong. ;) But I'm happy to see that Phantom is for real this year. Good luck Phantom...and I only hope you get 2nd place, as long as Cadets get third. ;)

The award is given in all three divisions (won it in 01 with the Americanos), however, I'm not suprissed we didn't win it in 03 with Regiment - outside of body movement we didn't really break new ground then.

This year, I wouldn't count out the Cadets - a VERY innovative show, maybe not the most friendly, but it seems to be one of those ones I watch later, and suddenly have an epiphany and get it (kinda like Star 93). I love Regiment, but in the end - there is no rhyme or reason to this award, so don't sweat it.
