DrumCorpsJewBoi
What did everyone out there in the drum corps world think of pioneer during there 2005 season? Geoff
gottalovit
I think Pioneer had their best show since the mid 90's. Congratulations to Pioneer on a great season.
MAV
Thought the cymbals were amazing! Really cool moves throughout the show. Guard was super - and horns really stepped up this year. Here's what I wrote about the show at Quarter Finals... The sun comes out as they begin to play. Intense snares (8) and equally intense cymbals (5). Nice vertical effect. Beautiful mellophone duet during the ballad. Non-stop intensity at the end! Sorry - notes were not very long. How was the season for you? ChicagoFan
I've always admired Pioneer but have never been a particularly big fan -- until 2005. This year's program was one of the most enjoyable in recent memory and, as a result, was one of my favorites of any corps. Living in the Midwest, as I do, Pioneer is one of the corps that I get to see numerous times, particularly in the early season. In years past I sometimes thought, rather negatively, "Oh gee...Pioneer again tonight." This year, I truly looked forward to seeing the corps at every oportunity. Hats off, Pioneer and congratulations on a great season. You have a new fan.
gumby5647
color me impressed. I've been one of the their biggest critics when it came to horn/drumline balance/sound ratio. Clearly a major step in the right direction this year. Still some over balance issues going on, (could still use a tid bit smaller battery), but overall its getting better. Now, if only they could get some uniforms that weren't a disaster.. Edited August 21, 2005 by gumby5647
slthjs44
The uniforms? Tell me about it!
jonnyboy
Pioneer unis rule. If you don't like you must not be Irish....and everyone is Irish.
ShutUpAndPlayYerGuitar
I saw the show twice (Madison and Indy) Things I liked/loved: -The hornline book -Color guard design and performance (this year's guard was eons ahead of last years guard) -Balance between the battery and hornline (FINALLY!) -The closer Things I didn't like: -Marching excecution (particularly upper body support) -The unis -The battery overplaying during their features. Can't wait to see you guys next year. ^OO^ Edited August 21, 2005 by ShutUpAndPlayYerGuitar
Ben
very impressed, especially with the drumline. saw em twice, and the progress from the first show to the second was awesome even in that small timeframe :) looking forward to '06, keep it up!
