DoubleHighEZ
Oh, I can't forget about my fav alto sound of all time, the small ensemble in '82 BD's exit. French horns with 2 sops, sweet! B) Edited September 29, 2005 by DoubleHighEZ

Musicman1084
Crown '05. I can't say enough about them. Their mello line produced such an amazing sound.
ssorrell
Spirit 79 based purely on beautifully arranged and emotional parts...no one wrote for altos like Jim Ott. Star 91 from a technical point of view.
dckid80
I wouldn't say biased at all Larrie. The kids never got to watch and listen to you guys live. I was fortunate to and '80 is still my benchmark for judging other corps. Thanks for the memories!!!! Trying not to be biased but:'79-'80 BD(the alto parts are insane!) rayfallon
I find that I agree with 91 Star, and have to throw in 83 Cadets (Rocky Point and the Mass) Best Senior mellos I ever heard were 1980 Buccaneers (I think it was 1980 - was that the "Hill Where The Lord Hides" year? Almost the entire section had come from the Saints of Edison New Jersey, where the infamous Bucky Swan had created an incredible horn line in the late '70s. StarVoyager
Star '91 was ###### for sure. Absolutely amazing. Gotta love those Jim Prime and Donnie Van Doren hornlines. If I had to add more alto lines to this list I would add the following: Madison 1988-----Malaguena. HOLY ####!!!!! Still gives me shivers hearing them in the ionosphere at the end of that piece. Definitely one of my favorite endings of ALL time. Cavaliers 1986-88-----Wow. If I didn't know any better I would say that no one on that line aged out any of those years. They were that good. GORGEOUS sound.
