My Top Twenty-Five Moments in Drum Corps History (for as long as I've been aware of it, that is...and highly biased from my perspective...)

25. The Madison Scouts become the first Midwest corps (and only corps for a long time) to win a DCI championship, 1975.

24. The Garfield Cadets become the first eastern corps to win the title, the first of their three-peat, in Miami to loud shouts of "East! East! East!"

23. The Blue Devils become the first undefeated corps of the DCI era in 1982.

22. Phantom Regiment re-emerges after a tough 1986 season to place 5th at Finals...in the new, all-white uniform.

21. The Glassmen become a Top Five corps, taking advantage of a slip by the Phantom Regiment, 1998.

20. The Crossmen beat the Cadets and the Blue Devils, Drum Corps East Finals, 1991.

19. The Velvet Knights, clown princes of the activity, tie the Star of Indiana for 7th place at the DCI Finals, 1987.

18. Just two years after making Finals, the Blue Devils win the first of 11 championships, 1976.

17. Garfield ekes out a one-tenth victory...their second title, over the Blue Devils, 1984.

16. Perhaps the most controversial show of the 1990s, Star of Indiana loses the title to the Cadets by one tenth, 1993.

15. The Cadets tie the record high score set by Cavaliers in 2002, using amplified human voice and a door in "The Zone," and winning their ninth championship.

14. The Madison Scouts drop out of Finals for the first time since 1973 in their own hometown, 2002.

13. The Midwest has three corps - Star of Indiana, Cavaliers, and Phantom Regiment, in its top three for the first time.

12. Phantom Regiment is bridesmaid once again, by a tenth of a point, to the Santa Clara Vanguard, 1978.

11. Santa Clara is back...tying the Blue Devils for the 1999 championship, ten years after their last title.

10. The Cavaliers wrap up their own threepeat, setting the new record score of 99.15, with their production of "Frameworks."

9. Phantom Regiment is bridesmaid once again, tying the record high score of 98.4 only to see it topped by the Santa Clara Vanguard (1989).

8. Star of Indiana, in its first year of existence, makes Finals in 1985 by placing 10th.

7. The Boston Crusaders, first time finalist just the year before, become the latest corps to achieve Top Five status.

6. The Blue Devils return to form with an undefeated 1994 season for title number seven. A new look, a new sound...the Blue Devils!

5. The Garfield Cadets put an exclamation mark on their threepeat by setting the new score record - 98.4 - in 1985.

4. The Madison Scouts take down the undefeated Blue Devils and the surging Santa Clara Vanguard to win the 1988 DCI title on their 50th anniversary year.

3. Star of Indiana wins its first and only DCI championship, a mere 7 years after its inception, losing only to the Cavaliers (twice) and Madison Scouts (once) along the way.

2. The Garfield Cadets pull off an undefeated percussion score to wrap up their 4th DCI title in a year that saw them lose to Spirit of Atlanta at one point, yet regrouped to take down the undefeated Santa Clara Vanguard by one tenth at Finals.

1. Phantom Regiment secures its first championship with another first: The first championship tie in DCI history, 1996.
