Kamarag
The Blue Devils most certainly do not have a "history of choking" at finals. In fact, they have a well-defined history of turning it up at finals, especially in years they aren't the clear leader going in. I'm sure you'll point to 1989 as a year of a big choke, but I'd point to the video of the second half of the show and you'd see what was one of the best, of not THE best finals-night recoveries in DCI history. If any corps had (and I mean HAD, not HAS) a history of imploding at finals it's Phantom Regiment. They killed that tick in 1996, and have be nothing but stellar at finals since. I'm also an alumnus of the Blue Devils, and I have absolutely no problem with BD020304's posts. As for 90's MelloGuy, all I have to say is... "Bitter, party of one...your table is ready..." 90'sMelloguy
"Bitter, party of one...your table is ready..." Bitter?....hardly. I had a great time with the corps. Made friends, had fun, and won dci twice. The years I marched BD were some of the best years of my life I have an opinion that I am entitled to and you think I am bitter?....amazing

CloudFuel
I love: * Sarcasm * Jerks who put down other corps to make their corps look better * People who call shows "easy" just because they are cleaner * People who talk a LOT of sh|t and have no backup source for their crap. BTW... BD's not going to choke tonight... they are all going to put out bad### performances and the winner will be the best performed show.. period... so whatever... some of you people REALLY waste the rest of our time. My predictions.. and guess what? I'm entitled to them so sorry if you don't like them. 01 - Cavaliers (GE Vis, VIS Perf, VIS Ensemble, MUS Brass, MUS Ensemble) 02 - PR (GE Mus, MUS Perc) 03 - BD (VIS Cg) 04 - SCV 05 - BC 06 - Cadets 07 - Crown 08 - BK 09 - BAC 10 - Madison 11 - GMen 12 - Spirit Edited August 12, 2006 by CloudFuel

I dispelled this myth in another thread, so I will repost what i wrote there: Not sure about Regiment losing steam over the last 19 years (kind of an odd number). I assume you are going back to 1987, and if that is the case, then this is the verdict: 1987: Yes, Regiment fell to 5th from 3rd place, so chalk that one as a "minus." 1988: Stayed pretty much the same. 1989: Semis (96.9), Finals (98.4). Definitely "brought it" on Finals night. "Plus." 1990: Semis, 6th place, Finals, 4th place. "Plus." 1991: Semis, 4th place, Finals: 3rd place. "Plus." 1992: Semis, 6th place, Finals: 8th place. Definite fall. "Minus." 1993: Semis (94.9), Finals (96.2), we brought it that night. "Plus." 1994: Semis (95.7), Finals (96.2): An improvement, though slight, so we won't count it. 1995: Semis/Finals: Stayed the same. 1996: Don't really have to discuss this, do I? "Plus." 1997: Semis/Finals: Stayed the same. 1998: 9th place in Qtrs, 8th place tie with BK at Semis, moved up a little during Finals. "Plus." 1999: Semis/Finals stayed the same. 2000: Quarters, 8th place, Semis/Finals: 7th place. "Plus" 2001: Qtrs, Semis, Finals : All about the same. 2002: Pretty much the same throughout, BAC caught up with them, so we'll count it as a "minus." 2003: 5th, moved up to 4th: "Plus." 2004: Stayed the same. 2005: Stayed the same. So, that's a total of 8 plusses, versus only three "minuses." The numbers don't really bear out your assumption...in fact, it makes it seem like Regiment actually does better during the final week more often than not. Now, since everyone has a different set ot tastes, it's hard to tell how a corps really does when you observe them...people who like a corps will often say they did much better, people who don't will say they did worse. The only thing we have to go by is the scores and the placement. Prior to this, they dropped from Semis to Qtrs maybe once.
TimEuph
2001: Qtrs, Semis, Finals : All about the same. We did move from 7th in quarters to 6th in semis and finals that year. While not a huge move, you counted upping one spot in placement as a plus in other years, so this could go that way as well.
