DOES ANYONE REMEMBER ROCHESTER 1996?

Recommended Posts

My favorite part was when the cop told Longdo to make them stop. Longdo stepped aside and said..."You make them stop," and casually walked away. And still they continued. TG and I were getting married the next morning. Russo and his wife were standing for us, and another guy in the corps was doing the photography. I was pretty sure that the wedding was going to have to be postponed until we could post bail.

YUP......I remember that. One of the cops also told Mike to "Turn them off !!!" That was pretty funny.....and actually gave us a reason to play a "little" bit louder.......

A very fond memory indeed......

Boy, this thread certainly brings back special moments in DC. That night, the emotions were so high for many reasons. Great performances by many, the end of a great season, friends seeing friends they have made through the years. I will never forget the emotion I felt as the Cabs played that night in the parking lot. This group was a pleasure to be around the entire year. I am not sure why I was conducting, but it certainly was something that was really special. I remember clearly the cop coming up and tapping me on the shoulder, and when I turn, it was my first instinct to keep conductiong and talk. I pleaded with him that it would be in HIS best interest if he let the group blow off some steam for the 12 minutes it would take. He told me to stop moving my arms or he would arrest me, so I did, being a law abiding citizen, and would never drink a beer in a open parking lot. :) Well let me tell you, that is when the goose bumps really started. The corps just kept cranking, the crowd, and a I am not sure, but it seemed like the majority of the Buc's where behind me, and the crowd many, kept getting louder and louder. The cop then yelled at me to MAKE THEM STOP. All I could do was laugh, knowing that the it would now take the national guard to come in and stop this group, and try and plead with him. I told him at this point I couldnt, and he should just should let it go for the ten minutes. He then turned away, shaking his head. The only thing that really bugged me, was the fact that the idiot interrupted a great musical moment. I know that is why we all do what we do. To be in the middle of such passion from all points, with friends, wow, my heart is thumping just remembering it. Thanks for keeping the story alive. I better go and take my Blood pressure meds now.
