I absolutely LOVE Champion's Fanfare!

it's not that I don't like CF, it's that I like AoC better.

but really, I think that the whole CF is terrible thing is overplayed. It's really not that bad.

It works with the +/- 700 horns at finals. Beautiful there. With only two small hornlines playing it? No way!

The original AOC was by far the best.

I know a lot of people in Div 1 corps, and you'd be surprised at how many of us make fun of it or call it terribly stereotypical-sounding wind ensemble arrangement, or something to that effect.

And I don't know what it sounds like in the stands (probably bad), but every time we played it for encore (and ESPECIALLY at finals, because it sounded BAD), it just sounds awful on the field. I would be happy if it got taken away and DCI used those men in black memory things on me so I couldn't play it in my head anymore.

I didn't like it at all. I ####### HATE Simple Gifts, I'm sorry.

I honestly liked AoC.....old or new, both are fine with me. Champions Fanfare made a LITTLE more sense when everyone was on the field finals night playing it, but it sounds awful with 2 hornlines playing it.

I hysterically laughed when I heard the drum parts for CF, and couldn't play for the rest of the song. The timpani parts were pretty much the most pompous, unnecessary things I've ever heard in a piece of music. At least they didn't try and include those on finals night, that would be have been ridiculous.

I do like drum corps though. :)

Ya, add one more spot on the bandwagon. I agree with most anyone who posted, that if it weren't for simple gifts/apalachian spring, whatever it's called, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
