Far as I know, other than 'Scades in 2004....this is the first time Nelhybel has been on the field, too.

Actually, Nelhybel material has been on the drum corps field plenty of times. Trittico was done by a couple of other corps before the Knights ('68 Nisei Ambassadors, '71 Thunderbolts). Argonne Rebels commissioned Nelhybel to write their 1977 opener, aptly-entitled "Argonne Fanfare".

Isn't VK using Imogen Heap's Hide & Seek?

Why would the Cadets use music from a show that has already been announced?

That doesn't sound like innovation to me.

Oh boy :grouphug:

Innovation goes far beyond not playing something no one has played on the field yet, and as for VK, it hasn't been on the field, yet. The Cadets can't study what's been done with the piece already and say, "Hey, we're going to do it differently." Innovation is not restricted when someone gets tout their press release first. Each organization had to be independently thinking about the work...one just beat the other to the punch with the public announcement.

I distinctly remember George talking about Hide and Seek in his livejournal at least a week or two before VK and Spirit announced theirs. If I really have to I will look it up!

Earlier than that. But it's ok. To each their own.

Jusst remember when Crosmen and SCV played Blue Shades in the same season. Crossmen played everything SCV didn't and SCV played everything Crossmen didn't.

It's all good.
