1982-2006: Favorite 2nd Place DCI Perormance

1997 Cadets, followed closely by 1989 Phantom and 1993 Star. Those 3 shows would certainly be in my top 5 or 6 shows of all time.

My first show that I ever saw was in 1990, so I never saw Phantom 89 live. But I memorized every beat from the CDs and...come on, now, you remember...the VHS recording of the PBS broadcast (I am so old). Got the privilege of seeing both Cadets 97 and Star 93 multiple times, including finals. Incredible. I thought they both deserved to win, but I'm sure the guys in the green shirts had better seats than me.

Honorable mention to 1996 Blue Devils...oops.

I was just watching the 1987 SCV Russian Christmas video on DCI's website. And I was thinking "MY LORD! Has there been another 2nd place corps performance that moved me like that?"

I will humbly opine that 1984 BD is not only the greatest 2nd place performance of all times, it is somewhere in the Greatest Performances of all times, period.
