Me thinks this poll will be much more one sided in a few captions:

Pit: Cavaliers

Mellos: Cadets

Sops: Blue Devils (could have included Madison in this one)

Recently, I would probably give Bluecoats pit, and Cavaliers mellos. Still trumpet for Blue Devils.

w/Stp: Though I'd probably give the mello title to Star for DCI overall. Everytime I think the word "mellophone," I immediately think "Star of Indiana 1990-1991."

Though the Cadets mells were pretty darn good in the mid-90s... hmm...

And for me, I LOVE the PR mello line. Mostly, I love the mello runs in the recap of Canon. YUM.

For me the Cadets mellos have this one. Star achieved legendary status for a few great years, and Regiment has had some awesome lines as well, but the Cadets have been featuring them for over 20 years now.

I'd probably go with 2002 BD sops, 1991 Star mellos, 1996 Phantom low brass, 03/04 SCV Snares, either 2000 or 2005 Cadet tenors, and 04/05 Phantom bass drums. For the front ensemble, I'd go with either 06 BK or 04 Cavies. For the colorguard, I'd probably have to go with a BD guard from sometime in the 2000s... maybe 03 or 04.

... oh, and the corps would be wearing either Academy's or Crossmen's current uniforms, while running around in either 03 or 04 Cavies drill. :)

I guess for Mellos if we are talking just the best line usually over the years I would give it to the Cadets, but if we wanna talk power, it's gotta be PHANTOM!!! 2004 Cadets Mellos were amazing though. They were completely underrated, also 1999. Front Ensemble is good with Cavies, and Sops, don't get me started.

Should have had scouts in for mellos and sops.

Too bad there wasn't a bari/euph and contra selection. I have a feeling Regiment would have dominated that
