Rratex
There's a reason it is called DRUM and Bugle Corps. Drumline all the way!
Schickmeister
any hornline would sound like crud without contras :) /thread
JimF-LowBari
any hornline would sound like crud without contras :)/thread Ironic part is Contras were about the last voice added to corps (early 60s)....... Howsa 'bout marching tympani, bells, and (for a year or two) steel drums? Watched a vid from 1970 the other night and couldn't keep my eyes off the triple player. Poor bugger looked like he had 3 midget bass drums on their side in front of him. After he got near midfield the drill looked like it was designed so he didn't have to move too much. AzEuph
Euph, if not euph I would probably say contra. because there are very few marching bands that use both :) favorite percussion....smokin bass lines. You should break it down into brass, battery, and front ensemble. then people couldn't vote just for their own. 500th post :) Edited April 11, 2007 by AzEuph
Slow Adam
This is for those who said percussion is clumped into one catagory. You guys still aren't even winning the poll.... That's because the percussionists aren't voting because the poll is silly.
Slow Adam
The 32" bass, known as "thumper". A special fondness for the ones with windows, and a good interior decorator. If you know what I'm talking about, you know. ;) Yes and yes.
LunchboxTScontra
There's nothing like a Meaty Low Brass sound, and it all originates in the CONTRAS BABY!!!!! ^0^ I agree with all the bass line comments also, nothing like a strong 5th bass thump to get the heart to skip a beat or two B)
