tubacurt
That was the combined BD/SCV Alumni Ensemble...The BD side will perform at Precision West (Playing "Since i Fell For You" and "Free"). The SCV side will be at Stockton (doing "Vanguardian Sketches -- a combo of a number of SCV works -- and "Music of the Night"). There will probably be a few crossovers (I'll be at Stockton as well as P West) The FULL ensemble will be performing at Stanford Aug 4, performing all the pieces. Sweet. If I lived remotely close to California I would definitely check it out.

DCIHasBeen
I know this may be a little late, but I finally heard the Blue Devils Concord Pavilion performance and I have to say, it was awesome!BD Is The New Star! Amazing! I don't think so ... <**>
Mouthpiece1234
I heard the recording and it sounded a bit flat as well. Can't judge until the first show. About the Star thing. I don't think the mellophone writing comes as strong to Stars' except for The Cadets.
Dut Dut OUT!
Star or not... I think their book is kinda boring. I feel like they are kinda selling out. I like the pegasus nod in the bassline. Way to easy to be that out of tune. But it is early and their staff is amazing. I am sure the book will beef up and their tone and pitch will improve markedly as it does almost every year! luvs me sum mello!
I don't think space chords will be in there, I think they just put that in there cause they needed something to take up time and/or the rest of the opener isn't very clean yet. Actually a FMM and I were talking about it the other day. He said the chords are in for now, but it's in the air if they'll stay in or not. Depends on if they can work them into the concept the way they have imagined.
