prodigal bari
Trying to remember, were they allowed to keep their D1 status? Yes. This was settled almost a year ago. On the uniform...I do like the gray better. Guess I am a traditionalist; also with the coming accessories (and fitting...PLEASE!) it should give a much needed appearance change to the jumpsuit quality that is present; especially breaking up the halves of the uniform. Just wish someone from the corps would give us more of an idea of what is being added (rather than all of this skullduggery that seems to be the rage in this activity..). I am personally not a big fan of partial presentations. It gives an incomplete image; and with all the good coming out of the corps I would rather see a better presentation of the uniform at this time. I am sure it will be there, mind you. I just hate to see this still incomplete. Just my opinion, of course. And if that is the worst bump this corps will have this season, then it is still batting close to a thousand at this point! troopers1
Yes. This was settled almost a month ago. Actually, we were accepted back in D1 in spring '06, I believe.

Galen
I think the new uniforms will look much better with something to break up the blue. However, IMHO the uniform would have been better served with dark gray pants. I did a little photoshopping and gave half dark gray pants.I think this would have retained a little more of the traditional look. A nice touch would have been a tone on tone satin dark gray stripe on the pants. I definitely like the dark blue though! I think the gray looks a little sharper- and gives some contrast with the black and yellow of the gauntlets.
skajerk
But, is the gray keeping in with history of the 11th? That's why, and I highly doubt they would, if they make that drastic a change, they should go back to the steel (is that what it is?) blue with the yellow stripe. Having said that, has there been any other corps, besides '83 Sky Ryders, that made a drastic change to the uniform half-way through the marching season? cwillpayne
I'm not too sharp on the gray, either. You can see the traditional uni they wore in the pic I posted above. As it's been stated many times, the final tweaks are still coming. My guess is that one of them will be something to break up the uniform. Possibly a cummerbund/sash (please!) or a belt with the "US" buckle that is part of their tradition as well. How about a belt/sash thing similar to the Cadets, that comes down across the chest? but it has the US buckle on it........ just a thought........... That actually would be historically correct...and combine it with a yellow cummberbund and drape to break the top and bottom..

Yes...as a matter of fact, the original 'Class A' uniform for the Troop had the gray trousers w/yellow stripe. I don't think that is an option, though. These uniforms look like they are one-piece. DutchCousin
As mentioned, they need to be fitted. Personally I can't get excitedabout the black gauntlet. Blue with a slightly wider yellow stripe may be as nice if not better.
