UP_Front1201
Wow Phantom was pretty low but they totally kicked butt in the end :)
oldbandguy
Another interesting thing. The top 12 on June 25, 2006 was the same top 12 at finals! Would be interesting to see if that is the way it usually is over the years.

Harmonious Cacophony
Yeah, I left out the Troop, XMen, and Academy (I think that's all). I guess if someone wanted to get really in-depth they could find each corps' score on June 25 in each of the past few seasons and rank where each corps' current score lines up against scores of seasons past. It would also be neat to see the average daily score increase of each corps this season up to the 25th, and compare it to the same of past years. It seems that corps generally improve by smaller margins per day as the summer progresses, so it would be interesting to view how the average daily improvement changes throughout the summer for each corps. ravedodger
I was thinking about the supposed west coast inflation thing a few minutes ago and went an old issue of DCW dated June, 21 1991. The lead story entitled Blue Devils Post Decided Win Over Vanguard opened with a quote from a long time California judge saying "There is a long season ahead and the scores are traditionally low in the west because we don't give gifts." As of this issue with the last recorded show being June 15th, the latest scores around the country showed these placements: Star of Indiana 72.10 Blue Devils 67.50 Phantom Regiment 67.30 Bluecoats 64.90 Cavaliers 63.50 Vanguard 63.40 Scouts 62.30 Phantom Regiment's score actually dropped from a 71.00 given at the Indianapolis show only the night before. The other top corps in open class hadn't performed up to this point. Edited June 28, 2007 by ravedodger

wesleyrp
but do June scores really mean much.....maybe so... Genrally yes they do. A good start is just that, but it matters a lot for corps that are around the 11-16th place range as you get an immediate idea who contends for a finalist spot and who is not. Maybe not so important to determine placements for later on, but deffinently important to establish yourself in the running.
