Ah yes, that period of a couple of weeks going into Allentown in '82 when there was the sense of some possibilities for the Cavaliers' show.

Then the inevitable slow slide toward 12th at prelims. :music:

Well, at least we were still 20-pointing the Appliance and River Rats. :P

We did not have a show on the 9th, but Lake Highlands was full on the 8th and they loved us. Barely staying ahead of the Scouts. That gap would get real close in a couple more weeks in DeKalb. This is fun to relive that last season of my marching career.

We had a terrible performance that night. The hornline phased from side to side at a point in the opener, because we got an echo from the front sidelines. I think the drums did fine. Dan was not happy with us that night.

Wow, hard to believe it's been 25 years. We were at the SCV homeshow, Pacific Procession, this day 25 years ago.

9 Blue Stars 30.100

JD - I saw Phantom from up above at DATR that year - you guys friggin rocked - First impact wow! This was a rare treat for me, since we often were among the last to go on and hardly ever had a chance to see anyone else live.

Wow, a 49.75. Seems like an amazingly low score by today's standards. It's hard to distinguish what has changed in the activity's scoring, and what is just my own romantic youthful memories of my corps experience. If I remember correctly however, I do believe that we pulled into the stadium straight from Seattle with just enough time to line up and perform...that performance being the very first complete run thru of the show, as we had learned the last counts as darkness fell at the rehearsal site in Seattle about 40 hours earlier.

We had our best performance to date and like I said in another post, thought we beat the Devils, as did their staff. Alas, it was not meant to be. It was our first loss of the season.

what has changed is that you don't have the lower echelon of Div I like we used to have back in the 80's. Those corps that were finishing from 26-40 at finals back then would be competing in division II now and being scored on Div II sheets.

A majority of our corps was sick, so much so that we pulled out of the previous show and about half of our corps was on the field at retreat in Denver.

We did want the win, but weren't sure it was going to happen. After Denver, we were on the Victory Lap. We figured if we could get past Phantom in Denver, we had it in the bag.
